I love Brenda Joyce's books both her historical romances and contemporary romances, which there isn't a lot of but are very good none the less. Well today I will be writing about a contemporary romance that she wrote and I loved reading it because it was suspenseful, romantic and mystery. I bought the book because the description caught my attention and it kept my attention while I was reading the novel. Here are the description of the book from the back cover and a picture:

DOUBLE TAKE $ 6.99 (376 Pages)

Kait London has been estranged from her twin sister for years. She has never understood why and has always regretted it. When her phone rings in the middle of the night, Kait learns that Lana desperately needs her help. All Kait has to do is take her place, for two days, at her home in the horse country of Virginia. If Kait can play this role convincingly enough, she will save Lana’s life…

This is a game the twins have played before. But never life this. For the charade is much more difficult to pull off than when they were children. Lana has many secrets, secrets she has kept from everyone, including Kait—and she has as many enemies, including her own husband. Kait hadn’t been expecting Trev Coleman to be in residence. Worse, she is soon forced to recognize how darkly seductive he is—and that he may very well be her worst enemy. Then she discovers that someone is deliberately stalking Lana, but Kait is the trapped prey…

Kresley Cole is an another author that a friend of mine recommended. I went to her website and even joined her message board and when I read about her books I thought I should give them a try. I went in search of her first book and I found that her first two books were a series named the Sutherland Brothers. I bought them and I loved them, so I went in search for some more of her books. Well I bought more of her books but for today I will be describing her Immortals After Dark series, which there are 4 books in the series right now but a 5th book that is on the way and will be coming out on May 20th. I'm hooked to this series and I don't think I can see a future without more Immortals After Dark books. I have to say that I'm glad a friend pointed me to this series because I have to tell you these books are great. Well here is the interview with Kelley Nyrae that I promised to post. Kelley Nyrae was nice enough to grant me an interview about her writing. Even though she was busy with her writing she was nice enough to answer the following questions as soon as she could possibly get them done. Here is the link to the review of novel Getting Lucky with Luciano. Here is how the interview went:

* * * *

Phoebe: When did you know that writing romance was going to be what you would do with your life?

Kelley: I’ve loved writing for as long as I can remember. I won my first writing contest in elementary school. It wasn’t until about three years ago that I even started reading romance. I became a stay at home mom for the first time and on a whim picked up my first romance. I haven’t stopped reading them ever sense. My old love of writing started coming to the surface again and I decided to give it a try. Once I began my first book I knew that I found my niche. I know it is what I’m supposed to do.

Phoebe: Did you know what type of romance you wanted to write about or did you experiment with different genres before you chose?

Kelley: I’m a contemporary girl at heart. I always knew I wanted to write contemporary romance. I’d like to try my hand at a vampire novel as well. I probably won’t be able to start it until next year though.

Phoebe: What was the first fiction you ever wrote?

Kelley: I wrote in high school. Most were children’s short stories.

Phoebe: How much research did you have to do for your novels especially for Getting Lucky with Luciano and did it take you a long time to gather that research?

Kelley: Not much research for Luciano. My husband is Italian so I asked his grandmother some questions. I interviewed someone who used to live in San Francisco since that’s where the book takes place.

Phoebe: What process did you have to go through to get your first book published and did it take you long?

Kelley: I actually pitched Luciano to the editor at Parker Publishing at a local event. She liked what I told her and requested the book. Once I sent it in they read the book and offered me a contract.

Phoebe: How did you feel when you finally saw your first published book out in print and how do you feel about your other novels being published?

Kelley: It’s all a great feeling no matter if it is print or eBook. Print is a different feeling because you’re actually holding the book in your hand. I got teary eyed and couldn’t stop looking at it.

Phoebe: Are you planning to write more books in the series Friday's at Luciano after the second book in the series named Unexpected Mr. Right comes out in January of 2009?

Kelley: Yes. It’s a three book series. Unexpected Mr. Right is Tabby and Nico’s book. After that I plan to write Bri’s book as well but I haven’t had time to write it yet.

Phoebe: Is there any advice that you would give to an aspiring romance writer that you wish someone had given you?

Kelley: Research! It’s so important to study your craft. The internet is a wonderful tool. Take classes if you can, read and never give up!

Thank you Kelley Nyrae for the interview. Good luck with your future books, which I will be looking out for and hope to interview another time. If you want to visit Kelley Nyrae here are the links to her website, her blog and the Romance Readers & Writers Forum that she is registered to and visits to post about the writing process, research and marketing.

This book was very emotional with romance and the characters were very interesting to read about because it was in a early period of American history. Here is the description of the book from the back cover and picture:

I love reading Katie MacAlister's books because she writes romance either contemporary, paranormal or historical and they have a way about it that makes me laugh when I read. Her books are always fun to read and I enjoy them. I really loved reading her hilarious scottish Men in Kilts novel because it was funny and romantic all in one, which I think is a good combination together. This book was one of the first that I ever bought of Katie MacAlister's and I loved reading it even though I'm not much into reading books in the first person. Here is the description of the book from the back cover and pictures:

MEN IN KILTS $ 6.99 (361 Pages)

What do they wear under those things?

So far, Kathie Williams has made a good showing as the only American at a mystery writers’ conference in Manchester, England—what with that falling asleep in public thing behind her. The sight of Iain MacLaren wakes her up. Clad in a deliciously woolly sweater, the burly Scotsman seems to be holding up a wall at the cocktail party. So Kathie makes her move…and winds up stark naked with him in bed, where his thick Scottish brogue, thick manly chest, and thick…other parts… drive her to do things she’s never done before. Like fall in love. And if things aren’t moving fast enough—and on the wrong side of the road, no less—Kathie is about to visit Iain’s sheep farm in the Scottish Highlands and meet his sons. She’s feeling a wee bit nervous. Because she can’t tell where this mad affair is going—except north….

I absolutely love, love, LOVE Nora Roberts. I've been reading her books since my mom's friend gave me her daughter's old books and Nora Roberts' book Three Fates was in the mix with my first Catherine Coulter's Warrior Song. Public Secrets is a very suspenseful novel that kept me wanting more. I love that it's about a rock star with a family and how during the Woodstock age all of the rockers were on some type of drug. It is romantic too and I love that mixture of suspense and romance in a novel. I recommend this book for all romance readers and anyone who is not a romance reader read it anyway and you will become a true romance reader because it is that good. Here is the description of the book from the back cover and picture:

PUBLIC SECRETS $ 7.99 (481 Pages)

From School Library Journal Adult/High School–The elegance of Ishiguro's prose and the pitch-perfect voice of his narrator conspire to usher readers convincingly into the remembered world of Hailsham, a British boarding school for special students. The reminiscence is told from the point of view of Kathy H., now 31, whose evocation of the sheltered estate's sunlit rolling hills, guardians, dormitories, and sports pavilions is imbued with undercurrents of muted tension and foreboding that presage a darker reality. As an adult, Kathy re-engages in lapsed friendships with classmates Ruth and Tommy, examining the details of their shared youth and revisiting with growing awareness the clues and anecdotal evidence apparent to them even as youngsters that they were different from everyone outside. [...] Ishiguro conveys with exquisite sensitivity the emotional texture of the threesome's relationship, their bonds of personal loyalty that overcome fractures of trust, the palpable boundaries of hope, and the human capacity for forgiveness. Highly recommended for literary merit and as an exceptional platform for the discussion of a controversial topic. As for me... This is not romance. There is - a bit - but it's not the focus of the story, and anyway you'll walk away feeling empty and heartbroken and just... sad for these kids who grow up with hope and getting nothing in return. This is a powerful, heartwrenching story about the future of humans and how far we'll go to be "healthy", how selfish and how barbarian we'll be - if this comes to be. And, honestly, I have no doubt we might come to that. It's a philosophical essay disguised as fiction-telling, and I think that's what gives it so much more credence. Instead of just talking about medicinal cloning, Ishiguro goes right at the heart of the subject, showing what it'll do to humanity. The title, based on a song in the book, goes right at the heart of this book. Why are we so selfish? Why don't we accept others? These people accept each other, why don't we accept them for being more than just medical benefits? My sister lent this to me one day when I was staying with her, telling me I might like it. She was so right. I finished it in one evening - all 300-so pages of it in a few hours. And I think I cried a bit.
From Set in rural Louisiana, Karen Robards's Ghost Moon finds prodigal daughter Olivia Martin returning home to reconcile with her stepfamily. Her sudden arrival after nearly a decade throws the family into a tizzy, and sets off her grandfather's heart attack. With entrances like this, you know the drama won't be skimpy.

Trying to reconnect with her family, Olivia searches through her past memories and unearths disturbing recollections of her mother's drowning. With the help of sexy step-cousin Seth, Olivia begins to rebuild her life and find happiness. Unfortunately, a crazed psychopath is haunting the neighborhood, and he's got eyes for Olivia's daughter.

Part romance and part suspense-thriller with supernatural elements thrown in, Ghost Moon has something for everyone. The chapters focusing on the killer's history of abducting girls are chilling and ominous, and the slow development of Olivia's relationships is both realistic and satisfying, making for a pleasing if sometimes terrifying read. --Nancy R.E. O'Brien ... and me :) I believe this was Robards's first novel, and it is rough around the edges compared to some of her later stuff, but good nevertheless. I so did not see the end coming (the bad guy, I mean)! The last chapter is a bit cliché, but on a whole I can forgive it. Good end-of-year read :)
From Library Journal Six months after a disastrous one-night stand, Jack Fairfax and Elizabeth Cabot are dismayed to realize that they'll need to work together to recover a stolen crystal vital to the success of a business in which both have invested. This uneasy couple is soon off to a film noir festival in pursuit of a thief obsessed with noir, and they discover that life sometimes imitates art (or at least B movies). Threats, stalkers, double crossers, and an unknown femme fatale are the least of the problems Jack and Elizabeth face in this entertaining tale of romantic suspense. Readers may not find as much humor in this book as they are accustomed to in Krentz's (Grand Passion) work, but the author's trademark wit is still present, and her many fans will certainly not be disappointed. A well-written, enjoyable novel with something a little extra for fans of film noir (who are sure to note the Veronica Lake lookalike gracing the cover). Another winner from a favorite author. Me... This one didn't grab me quite as much as some of Krentz's other stuff. I'm guessing it was the film noir feel of the whole thing. I kept imagining the characters acting like in a cheap film noir. Not... what she was going for, I'm sure. Nevertheless, good read, and it was intense. I sure didn't see *her* as the femme fatale in the end...

Kelley Nyrae is another newly published romance author that actually found me through Lori Foster's message board and joined up my Romance Readers and Writers Forum. I found her link to her website and found that she was a romance author newly published and I found her book Getting Lucky with Luciano very interesting and it is book 1 of the Friday's at Luciano's series. I bought it online because it wasn't in any of the book stores near me and I thought that it was very interesting book and I can't wait to read more in her next book in the Friday’s at Luciano’s series. Here is the description of the book and a picture:

Responsible, workaholic bookstore owner, Kaylee Daniels is ready to add a little bit of spice to her life. She doesn’t have a lot of spare time but what better way to try and occupy her free time than with a no strings attached affair with hunky Italian restaurant owner, Luciano Valenti. The man has had her fires burning for the past six months. The only problem: she can’t be around him without turning into a stammering klutz. How is she supposed to seduce a man she can’t even hold a conversation with?

Since the first Friday Kaylee Daniels walked into his restaurant she’s had Luciano on edge. The foxy woman spilled more drinks than anyone he’d ever seen but something about her got to him, bad. Luciano doesn’t have time in his life for anything serious. Hell, he doesn’t want anything serious and Kaylee is definitely a relationship kind of girl. Or so he thought…

What happens when two career minded people decide to spend a little more time on themselves…and each other? They just might find themselves getting lucky along the way.

I asked Kelley Nyrae if she would grant me an interview, which she said she would love to give me. So sometime soon I will be posting our interview here on the Talk About My Favorite Authors Blog.

I haven't read any of Jodi Lynn Copeland's books but when I finished reading this book I knew I had to go to her website to find out what else she has already written. I went in search of her first book and I found that her first two books were a series named the Sutherland Brothers. I bought them and I loved them, so I went in search for some more of her books. Well I bought more of her books but for today I will be describing her Sutherland Brother series. I love historical romances and these two books were a real pleasure to read. Karen Marie Moning is another author that I stumbled upon on one of my many trips to Barnes & Noble looking for new authors and books. I first picked up her book Kiss of the Highlander and I loved it and so when I found out that is was book 4 in a series of books I went out and bought the first 3 books and devoured them. I have ever since been addicted to her books and I have been upset with the Fever series because the books aren't coming out fast enough for me, especially since they always end in cliffhangers. Well these highlanders are drool worthy and very manly, sexy men who get very strong and independent women from the future (our present). Here are the descriptions of the books and pictures:

BEYOND THE HIGHLAND MIST $ 6.99 (Book 1)(375 Pages)

He was known throughout the kingdom as Hawk, legendary predator of the battlefield and the boudoir. No woman could refuse his touch, but no woman ever stirred his heart—until a vengeful fairy tumbled Adrienne de Simone out of modern-day Seattle and into medieval Scotland. Captive in a century not her own, entirely too bold, to outspoken, she was an irresistible challenge to the sixteenth-century rogue. Coerced into a marriage with Hawk, Adrienne to keep him at arm’s length—his sweet seduction played havoc with her resolve.

Veronica Wolff is a newly published author that I found out about through the J.R. Ward BDB Forum. I was looking through the member list searching for new websites and I stumbled upon Veronica Wolff's website. I went to her site and I found out that her first book was recently released in February and it was very similar to Karen Marie Moning's Highlander series. I decided to register to her website and I voted on her poll to either get a blog, message board, more historical content and more photos. I left a comment and she replied and was very nice and even joined my message board Romance Readers and Writers Forum. I decided to check out her book and so yesterday I went to Barnes & Nobles to buy it. Here is the description of the book from the back cover and picture:

MASTER OF THE HIGHLANDS $ 6.99 (291 Pages)

Lily hopes that making a pilgrimage to Scotland, a land she’s only heard about in lullabies, will help her to find her place again. But while exploring the Highlands, she discovers an overgrown maze and a strange stone map—and lands in the Lochaber of 1654…

Ewen, Chief of the Clan Cameron, is a busy man who must figure out how to save his people from the brutal redcoats and has time for little else. Having sired an heir, the widowed Ewen has no need—or room—for another romance. Then into his life drops a saucy lass with a peculiar accent, no regard for his title—and an arousing body. Drawn to each other despite their differences, they both realize that they don’t want Lily to go back to her own time. But with battles brewing between the Camerons, the redcoats, and a rival clan, staying is a gamble.

I asked Veronica Wolff if she would grant me an interview, which she said she would love to give me. So sometime soon I will be posting our interview here on the Talk About My Favorite Authors Blog.

I stumbled upon the author named Sunny when I was at Barnes & Noble. I first bought her Monère series but when I found out that she had another series that she was starting that involved one character that made an appearance in the Monère series. I instantly knew I had to buy it so I checked out her website and found out the name and date that the book was going to come out. When it came out I bought it and was instantly in love with the characters and I was excited to find out that there would be a new book in the series, but I'd have to wait until 2009. Well at least I know that the series will continue and the title will be Lucinda, Deadly. Here is the description of the book from the back cover and a picture:

For time out of mind, Lucinda has dwelt in eternal darkness. As a demon dead princess, she exists in an endless, joyless realm. But she is about to discover a need she never knew existed—not for power, not for blood—but for a more dangerous passion…

For centuries, Lucinda has endured the crushing agony that is her reality. Her only true diversion is visiting the living world like the shadow she has become. The she comes across a lone Monère warrior, Stefan, living alone with a Mixed Blood boy—as outcasts. So when Stefan offers himself to her, she moved beyond measure by her desire for him—and soon finds herself, drawn back into the heady eroticism of the Monère. There, she must carve out a home between the jealously of the dead and the violence of the living if she is to keep her newfound love—and life…

I love Julia Quinn's books, which I stumbled upon on when I was at Barnes & Nobles. I have all of her books except her novellas and I loved reading them. This book is a fairly recent book of hers that I enjoyed reading. Julia Quinn is a very good historical romance writer and I enjoy all of her books. Here is the descripion of the book from the back cover and a picture:

2 March 1810…
Today, I fell in love.

At the age of ten, Miranda Cheever showed no signs of Great Beauty. And even at ten, Miranda learned to accept the expectations society held for her—until the afternoon when Nigel Bevelstoke the handsome and dashing Viscount Turner, solemnly kissed her hand and promised her that one day she would grow into herself, that one day she would be as beautiful as she already was smart. And even at ten, Miranda knew she would love him forever.

But the years that followed were as cruel to Turner as they were kind to Miranda. She is as intriguing as the viscount boldly predicted on that memorable day—while he is a lonely, bitter man, crushed by a devastating loss. But Miranda has never forgotten the truth she set down on paper all those years earlier—and she will not allow the love that is her destiny to slip lightly through her fingers…

I love reading Katie MacAlister's books because she writes romance either contemporary, paranormal or historical and they have a way about it that makes me laugh when I read. Her books are always fun to read and I enjoy them. I really loved reading her hilarious swash buckling pirate book Blow Me Down because it was funny and romantic all in one, which I think is a good combination together. Here is the description of the book from the back cover and pictures:

I just read this book from Dorothy Garlock named Train from Marietta and I thought it was awesome! Dorothy Garlock is a New York Times bestselling author and she is even quoted as "THE VOICE OF AMERICA'S HEARTLAND." Dorothy Garlock writings mostly in the time period of the 1920s and 1930s but she also writes in the time period of the 1980s. I personally love to read her books, which I stumbled on to while I was walking around Barnes & Noble one day searching for new books. I thought that Kate Tyler is one interesting heroine and it's such a joy to read about New York City in those times of the 1930s even though it wasn't set so much in the city. Here is the book description from the back of the book and a picture:
TRAIN FROM MARIETTA $ 6.99 (389 Pages)

I stumbled upon Celia May Hart's book One More Time when I was at Barnes & Noble looking for new books to buy. I was instantly attracted to the book cover and when I read the description of the book from the back cover I knew I just had to buy it and read it as soon as I get home. Well I did love reading it and I recommend you do the same and either borrow it from your library or go out the your local bookstore and buy it. Here is the description of the book from the back cover and picture:
