Today I'm hosting Keta Diablo on her wonderful Blog Tour for her current erotic romance Where the Rain is Made. I'm happy that she has stopped by to answer some very interesting interview questions that I had such a fun time reading and I'm sure you all will too. And to find out more about the CONTEST where you can win a free eBook read the bottom of the interview.

On your website you break your backlist into two categories: "erotic" and "m/m" romances. Which do you prefer to write? Is one genre easier to write than the other?

I’ll say the male/male novellas are quicker because they’re not full-length novels. The erotic romance is almost always full novels. And there’s more research with the historical romance. I enjoy writing both because of the variety and the different lengths, but if you really pinned me down I’d have to say I’m really fond of reading and writing historical romance.

How did you start your writing career?

Dust and Moonlight
Keta Diablo
The first book I wrote was a sensual historical based on a real-life event in my family history. Not too long after that first book I began writing erotic romance and like I mentioned above added Gay fiction. Several years ago I wrote an erotic fantasy romance called Dust and Moonlight and I really enjoyed writing that genre too. I hope to do another fantasy/time travel one day. More information about Dust and Moonlight (Amazon Kindle) here.

What is the best book you've read in 2010? What upcoming 2010 book release are you most looking forward to reading?

I absolutely loved The Spymaster’s Lady by Joanna Bourne and hope to get to the other books in the series soon. I think she’s a wonderful writer with an amazing grasp of plot and character depth. Like many authors, I don’t have a lot of time to read so I have to be very selective in what I choose. I’ll often read the reviews and ask around if I’m on the lookout for a new book. My TBR pile AND TBR list is huge. I still have book sitting on my nightstand that I received last Christmas and haven’t had the time to open them yet. I know, pathetic.

What are your favorite genres to read?

When time, I do read in a wide variety. Right now, I have about three books going, which isn’t unusual for me. One is a fantasy, one is a historical romance and the other is a book on writing.

Tell us about your current release.

Thank you for asking about Where the Rain is Made. My youngest son is responsible for the inspiration behind the book. About six years ago he took a keen interest in American history, particularly Native American history. I can’t tell you the number of hours we spent at the library checking out books and reading about all the different tribes. For some reason, he loved the history on the Dog Soldiers and so we accumulated a lot of documents, research articles, etc. About a year later, his reading interests shifted, and here I was with all this information about the Cheyenne. It made sense that I would write a book about the Dog Soldiers.

The following is quoted from Rachel Vincent's blog and so it's written in the first person which means that Rachel is talking:
I am thrilled to report that I turned in the revisions for MY SOUL TO KEEP on Friday morning, and I am now on vacation for two weeks. Sort of. Mostly. I won't be writing any fiction until after the new year (I have two short stories due in short order), but I will be doing guest blogs and interviews in preparation for the release of My Soul to Save on Dec. 29. And giving away a bunch of stuff. Starting now. But first, late next week I'll be posting the brand new, shiny trailer for My Soul to Save. But you can see it on Monday night, if you subscribe to my newsletter. Don't subscribe yet? Click here to remedy that: Subscribe Now for the giveaway! I'm trying a new form for my giveaway this time, hoping it'll be easier to count the entries and draw the winner, because counting through a couple hundred entries by hand isn't much fun. So please bear with me while we try this out. Up for grabs: one signed copy each of My Soul to Take and My Soul to Save, the first two novels in the Soul Screamers series. This entry is open to international shipping. Entries must be received by 11:59 pm (Central) on December 23rd, 2009. To enter, all you have to do is fill out the form with your name and email address. It's really that simple, no work required. However, you'll get an additional entry if you do any or all of the following:
  • Subscribe to my newsletter (or already subscribe)
  • Post about this giveaway in an acceptable online forum (NOT another author's discussion group or blog)
  • Post the MSTSave countdown widget on your blog or an acceptable online haunt. (Not another author's discussion group or blog)

HOW TO ENTER FOR A SHOT AT THE NOOK:
1. Copy the code (click on "share") of the graphic above and post it to your blog. Add a link to my blog from your blog, saying something like, "Click here to enter Curl Up with a Book…and a Nook Contest." 2. Publish your blog. 3. Come back here and reply to this post with a link to your blog entry and your answer to the following question: What new books are you looking forward to loading onto your Nook (should you win it) in the New Year? If for whatever reason you’re technically challenged and can’t post the graphic, that’s okay. Just blog about the contest and provide a link to it. That’s a totally fine alternative. What if you don’t have a blog? Tell at least one other people about the contest who you think might want to enter. Post about it in a forum, on a loop, a friend via email, on MySpace, Facebook ect. Obviously, I can’t verify if you did it or not, so this is on the honor system. Once you’ve done that, reply to this post and tell me about it. Oh, and don’t forget to answer the question: What new books are you looking forward to loading onto your Nook (should you win it) in the New Year?

Now that is a good way to start a Friday! I discovered this website/blog through Jessica Brody's website. I had recently won a signed copy of her book The Fidelity Files (which I will be reviewing on the blog sometime soon and get a interview with Brody too) and I went in search of her official website to learn more about her and her novel. Through her website I found out that she had recently created a wonderful website/blog called Free Book Friday. I love winning free books that this website immediately had my loyality to weekly visits and especially since Brody has a podcast interview of the authors she has on the website on iTunes. Recently Jessica Brody contacted me because she noticed that I was one of the followers of her website Free Book Friday and she checked out that my blog which she thought was awesome! She also wanted to send me the press release for Free Book Friday in hopes that I might post something on the blog and help spread the word! They're also giving away a Top Referrer bonus to the site that sends the the most hits (tracked by Google Analytics) so I immediately got to writing an e-mail back to her.
When I wrote to her back I asked her if she had any banner or badge/button art work that I could link up here on my blog and on my website so that my readers could be linked back to her website Free Book Friday. Brody told me she had something and would work on it a bit and send it back to me. So on the right side half way through the blog you will see a couple of badges/buttons and the Free Book Friday badge/button is the first one. Under it is the code that you can use to put that badge/button onto your on website or blog to spread the word to everyone. Here is the copy of the press release she sent me:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Debut Author Finds Success in Giving Away Books
Los Angeles, CA—October 26, 2008—Jessica Brody, author of The Fidelity Files (St. Martin’s Press—2008) was searching for creative new ways to market her debut novel and collaborate with fellow authors at the same time. She noticed that free giveaways seemed to be highly effective in driving website traffic so she came up with the idea for FreeBookFriday.com, a website that, true to its name, promotes authors by giving away free books every Friday. “I started the site just as a fun way to promote my book and network with other authors, but the response has been overwhelming,” says Brody, who after only six short weeks has seen weekly visitor growth rates in the 300 percent range. “We have already filled up the rest of 2008 with an outstanding list of participating authors and have started a wait list for 2009.” The initial draw to the site is clearly the giveaways, but the hook that keeps visitors coming back is the content. Not only can readers enter to win a free autographed book, but Brody also hosts a weekly author interview podcast to promote the featured author. “I love connecting with fellow authors every week. Not only does it help me with my writing, but it gives readers a unique insight into the creative process behind some of their favorite titles.” This week (October 26th) FBF is hosting a special Halloween Edition, featuring one of the reigning queens of vampire novels, P.C. Cast whose House of Night series has been on the NYT Bestseller list for 25 weeks straight and has more than one million copies in print. Website visitors can listen to an exclusive interview with P.C. and enter to win a free signed copy of her latest release, UNTAMED (St. Martin’s, 2008) “The response to UNTAMED has been so great, I decided to launch a spin-off of the main site specifically targeting teen readers,” says Brody, who is also working on a Romance Edition, scheduled to launch in early 2009. The new site, Free Book Friday Teens, will launch November 1, 2008.

About Free Book Friday: The concept is simple. Each week, a new author is featured with an exclusive author interview podcast and a drawing to win free signed copies of his/her book. Website visitors are asked to sign up to be eligible and winners are chosen at random and posted on the site every Friday morning. Hence the name, "Free Book Friday!"

For more information, please visit: Free Book Friday or contact its founder, Jessica Brody at: info@freebookfriday.com

Romance Novel Forum is fairly new message board where romance readers and writers can come together to discuss anything they would like about the romance novel. Romance Novel Forum was created for the purpose of getting people who love to read and write romance novels of any genre together and interact with each other and just having a good time with everyone on the forum. It is a community where you can post about yourself and what’s going on with your life. About movies, TV shows and the books and authors that you love to read about.
To introduce this new message board to other readers and writers of romance we are holding our very first contest in hopes of getting new members to join up with the members that have been here from the beginning and interact with each other. So we are offering the winner and runner-up of our randomly chosen contestants 3 and 1 free paperbacks from Amazon.com. And the 4 paperbacks will be any 3 and 1 that the winner and runner-up choose from Amazon.com. Now all you have to do is sign up to become a member at Romance Novel Forum and you have to post at a minimum of 35 posts to enter. Contestants have until the 1st of October 2008 to sign up and participate.
Have fun on the forum and let us know what you think of the forum when you become a member! Good Luck to everyone!

I recently joined this yahoo group called Midnight Seductions which is managed by 30 wonderful authors that I haven't read but have heard many great things about some of their novels. From August 1st through August 4th they are having a wonderful Summer Bash where there will be a ton of different contests from many different authors. Well I'm participating in their grand prize contest and here is what I had to do in order to be entered in the contest. To enter for the grand prize I had to visit the Midnight Seductions blog. I then select FIVE member authors and visit their websites. Then I had to choose ONE book from each author I selected and write comments about why I'd love to read each of those five books. Then I'd have to post my comments in a public place, such as MySpace, FaceBook, your blogspot, your website, or any yahoo reader group you belong to that allows open promos and reader comments. I obviously chose to post my comments on the books I've chosen here on my blog. Then I have to send an email to midnightseductions1 @ yahoo.com (obviously without the spaces) with "grand prize" in the subject line and a link to the post in the body of the email, and I'll be entered!

The first author that I will be commenting about is Ava Rose Johnson. I've heard many good things about her and her books so I went to visit her website and I found one book that I've seen around the internet a lot and has recently been released. Here is the description about the book The Vampire Oracle: Power and picture which I got from Ava Rose Johnson's website:

The Vampire Oracle: Power by Ava Rose Johnson

Jourdain has spent centuries tracking the Elemental Ruby to Chicago. Desperate to destroy the danger it could cause, he will do anything to find it, even deceive. Bryanne, the ruby’s owner, is fascinated by the stranger who rescued her from the hands of an attacker. Unaware of his motives, she responds to his sexual energy and welcomes him into her bed.

But when an enemy ups the stakes, Jourdain is forced to come clean, Bryanne is unsure where to turn. Should she trust Jourdain or run as fast as she can? One thing’s for sure, the wrong decision could mean death.

The reason I chose this book out of her other book is because I love paranormal novels and vampires are one of my top favorite paranormal creatures that I love to read about. I was also intrigued when I read the blurb but what really got me was the amazing excerpt. After I read it I knew that I had to have this book, but unfortunaly for me it will have to wait until I safe up enough money to afford it. It is definitely on my wishlist for when I start shopping for new novels. The cover also did capture my attention but it has that mysterious man with the strange looking vampire teeth.

The second author that I will be commenting about is L.A. Day. I've heard many good things about her and her books, I even won her book Satin Seductions, so I went to visit her website and I found one book that caught my attention immediately. Here is the description about the book Double Penetration and picture which I got from L.A. Day's website:

Double Penetration by L.A. Day

Grey is a vampire tired of his barren existence. Long ago, he learned to feed without killing but still he doesn't dare get close to a human. A feisty female being attacked by two males piques his interest and he rescues her. Shannon enthralls him but he knows he shouldn't get involved. Grey burns with desire for her but knows he can't force an immortal existence on her.

Shannon is a cancer survivor but, robbed of her ability to have children, she feels empty inside—barren, worthless, less than a woman. Their souls collide when they make love but she doesn't think he'll want a permanent relationship with her. Grey can have anyone.

Just when she feels whole again, a taste of her blood confirms that her cancer has returned. Grey wants her as his immortal mate but will either survive a vengeance-seeking vampire?

The reason I chose this book was because the title really caught my attention right from the start. When I read the blurb it kept my attention because it was yet again another paranormal novel about one of my top favorite paranormal creature the vampire. The cover is beatiful and very distracting but I have to say that excerpt was too short for me but I guess they only give you enough to catch you on their hook and reel you in to buy the book. And yet unfortunaly for me it will have to wait until I safe up enough money to afford it but it is definitely on my wishlist for when I start shopping for new novels.

Now for the third author that I will be commenting about is Paige Tyler. I've heard many good things about her and her books, I even chatted with her a couple of times, so I went to visit her website and I found one book that caught my attention immediately. Here is the description about the book The Cutler Brothers Series and picture which I got from Paige Tyler's website:

The Cutler Brothers Series by Paige Tyler

Three hot novels in one print volume!

Book One–Cade

The beautiful, but irritating Riley Barnett has been a thorn in the side of the U.S. Marshals Service ever since she entered the Witness Protection Program. And now that she once again believes her identity has been compromised, new U.S. Marshal Cade Cutler is the one sent to placate her. When it turns out that she’s right this time, Riley has to depend on Cade to protect her, even if that means putting up with his spankings every time she refuses to follow his silly rules!

Book Two–Madoc

After attending his brother’s wedding, U.S. Marshal Madoc Cutler knows one thing for sure–there is absolutely no way he would ever fall for a woman as quickly as his brother did. But he can certainly appreciate an attractive woman, and when he comes across a beautiful waitress at a small-town diner, he can’t help but notice her. However, things become complicated when he recognizes her as the runaway fugitive, Shayna Matthews. His plan to quickly transport her back to Denver to stand trial goes awry when a snowstorm forces them to take shelter in a tiny, secluded cabin in the woods. Could he possibly have been wrong about not falling for a woman as quickly as his brother did?

Book Three-The Cutler Brides

In the third book of the series, both Cade and Madoc are back, as well as their naughty brides, Riley and Shayna. While down in Texas for a family get-together, the two girls decide to go searching for a buried treasure described in local folklore. Unfortunately, they don’t have a lot of luck finding the treasure, but they do find a mystery that needs solving. They begin poking around a suspicious mining company. Even though this gets Riley and Shayna repeated spankings from their husbands, the girls refuse to give up. They’re going to find out what’s going on, no matter what!

The reason I chose this book was because it was three books in one volume and I love me a novel with more than one story. And it also caught my attention because Paige is one of my MySpace buddies and she has posted a couple of comments about this book on my MySpace comments. When I read the blurb it kept my attention because it was about three brothers and the women that they fall in love with.

Now for the fourth author that I will be commenting about is Rita Thedford also known as Regina Carlysle. I've heard many good things about her and her books, I even chatted with her a couple of times and won one of her print novels, so I went to visit her website and I found one book that caught my attention immediately. Here is the description about the book Tempted and picture which I got from Rita Thedford's website:

Tempted by Rita Thedford

Known as Miss Temptation by the Haute Ton, Elizabeth Grayson is a cool, remote beauty who avoids the marriage-trap at every opportunity. She hasn’t time for men and babes while seeking justice for her murdered sister. Hiding in the shadows of night, Elizabeth leads a dangerous double-life which could very well be her undoing.

Christian Delaford, the eighth Duke of Haverton, newly returned from escapades in the Orient, must be married by midnight of his birthday or forfeit everything to a distant relative. When he sees Elizabeth, he knows he must have her. The cool beauty leads him in a crazy chase but when he learns her dark secret, can the strength of his love save her from the hangman’s noose?

The reason I chose this book was because the beautiful blue cover really caught my attention. When I read the blurb it kept my attention because it was a historical novel which I really love to read. They are one of my top favorite genres besides paranormal novels. The excerpt was too short for me but I guess they only give you enough to catch you on their hook and reel you in to buy the book. And yet unfortunaly for me it will have to wait until I safe up enough money to afford it but it is definitely on my wishlist for when I start shopping for new novels.

Now for the fifth and last author that I will be commenting about is Adriana Kraft. I've heard many good things about her and her books so I went to visit her website and I found one book that caught my attention immediately. Here is the description about the book Smoldering Passion and picture which I got from Adriana Kraft's website:

Smoldering Passion by Adriana Kraft

Anything for her art! With her graduate stipend running out, budding artist Melissa Hopkins applies for a job where her aunt used to work–at a New York center for sexuality.

Sworn off women after a disastrous relationship, Center Director Harry Gage ignores the danger signals and hires the striking young woman who reminds him of his former lover. Her air of innocence will captivate center viewers, so he’s sure she’ll be a hit on camera. What he’s not prepared for is how she pierces his heart.

When the sparks ignite, is it love or just sex–and what must each of them risk to find out?

The reason I chose this book was because the lovely cover really caught my attention. When I read the blurb it kept my attention because it had the my home state New York as the setting. The excerpt was too short for me but I guess they only give you enough to catch you on their hook and reel you in to buy the book. I also thought that the author had something which really caught me from the first when I visited her website. And yet unfortunaly for me it will have to wait until I safe up enough money to afford it but it is definitely on my wishlist for when I start shopping for new novels.

Now that is all five Midnight Seductions member authors and their books. I hope that you check these very cool authors websites and their books. Comment away about them and any questions you may have that I might be able to answer.

Kresley Cole is an another author that a friend of mine recommended. I went to her website and even joined her message board and when I read about her books I thought I should give them a try. I went in search of her first book and I found that her first two books were a series named the Sutherland Brothers. I bought them and I loved them, so I went in search for some more of her books. Well I bought more of her books but for today I will be talking about her latest release in her Immortals After Dark series. This is an Anthology where the Immortals After Dark series first made their appearance. Author Sherrilyn Kenyon and Jaid Black also have their own short stories written in this anthology.

I loved reading it and I was fortunate enough to have gotten it autographed by one of the authors. I also had enough money to buy 2 extra copies and get those autographed by none other than Kresley Cole! Next month in July I will be having a contest right here on the blog where I will be giving away an autographed Playing Easy to Get to one lucky winner. But that is not all in August I will be having another contest which I will be annoucing at the end of July on how to participate and the lucky winner will get an autographed Playing Easy to Get. So you have two chances to win this remarkable and very exciting novel. Here is the description of the book from the back cover and picture:

And get lost in all-consuming thrill of white-hot pursuit by a relentless stranger who may be your most dangerous foe, the best lover you’ve ever had—or both. Let your fantasies run wild with these unforgettable novellas where bigger is most definitely better—and playing easy-to-get is the only way to go!

From New York Times bestselling author Sherrilyn Kenyon comes “Turn Up the Heat,” the story of an average woman who wins the vacation of a lifetime—a trip to Sex Camp. But what Allison George gets is a race for her life with none other than an ex-Mafia hit man who is now being sought by his prior employer. Vince Cappelleti knew the island was a risky proposition, but he’d run out of options. Now the only thing he wants in his sights is Allison, but in order to have a future with her, he must first deal with his past.

Jaid Black’s sizzling hot “Hunter’s Oath” sends grief-stricken Sofia Rowley to the Arctic Circle, where her brother, a U.S. Army Officer, was lost in a deadly helicopter crash. She’s about to take a shocking journey into a secret underground world where Viking bride-hunters auction off their bounty…and where a strapping warrior vows to make this beautiful Outsider his.

Possession and passion entwine in Kresley Cole’s sultry story, “The Warlord Wants Forever.” Nikolai Wroth, once a ruthless human warlord in the 1700s and now a general in the rebel vampire army, needs to find his Bride, the one woman who can render him truly alive. As a turned human, he doesn’t enjoy a heartbeat or breaths and is consequently weaker than natural born vampires. He wants his Bride for the power she will bring him and can hardly believe it when his heart beats for Myst the Coveted, a mad, fey, mythological creature. Myst is known throughout the world as the most beautiful Valkyrie, part chillingly fierce warrior, part beguiling seductress who can “make you want her even as she’s killing you.”

She has devoted her life to protecting an ancient, powerful jewel and to fighting the vampires, and she now sees a way to torment one—for with Wroth’s heartbeat comes consuming sexual desire that can only be slaked by her. She eludes him for five years, but he has finally chased her to ground and stolen the jewel which commands her, giving him absolute power over her. While he possesses it, he can make her do anything, and he plans to in order for her to experience firsthand the agonizing, unending lust she’d purposely, boastingly, subjected him to for half a decade. Yet when Wroth realizes he wants more from her and frees her, will she come back to him?
