I love the Harlequin Blaze line because they are always HOT novels. I like the author Cara Summers novels especially her Tall, Dark, and Dangerously Hot trilogy series out of all of her work because as you can tell it's about talk, dark and dangerously hot men. There are 3 books in total in this series, but there are 2 other books about the Angelis family outside of this series. This is part of Harlequin's Lust in Translation miniseries and part of Ms. Summer's Angelis Family series. This is the fourth book in the series and I have to say that it is about the Angelis men's younger sister Philly. This series is about the Angelis family, which consists of 3 brothers and a sister.
This novel is about Philly Angelis the youngest sibling and the only girl who works for the Vetenarian because she can communicate with the animals. She has had this special gift all her life and gets it from her mother's side of the family. Philly has been and still is in love with her older brother Kit's best friend Roman Oliver since he safed her life when she 16 years old and he was 22 years old. Roman has been attracted to her to since that day but because she was 6 years younger than him and on top of that his best friend Kit's younger sister he has never acted on his feelings. Now they both travel to Greek and find all kinds of trouble as they fall in love with each other. I loved reading this novel so much because it was sexy and suspensful all wrapped in one awesome novel. It kept me on my toes and turning the pages for more. You are in luck in finding this book because it was recently released this month and in December there will be another novel about the Angelis family. Here is the description of the book from the back cover and picture:
LIE WITH ME $ 4.99 (Book 4)(217 Pages)
The only thing hotter than the Greek sun is the two of them…

Corfu's exotic beaches are a matchless place to meet true love…or at least to have a fabulous fling! And that's exactly what Philly Angelis needs. After all, she's a survivor of unrequited love…and an embarrassingly rejected sexual proposition. Fleeing to Greece to soak in its sexy magic—as well as to find a hot guy to take her mind off her longtime crush, Roman Oliver—seems the perfect antidote. Roman can't believe what he's doing. Philly is his best friend's little sister—definitely hands-off! So why is he following her to Corfu? And why is he taking her outrageously delicious sexual proposition seriously? Maybe because Philly's all woman now—a woman who knows exactly what she wants. And, God help him, Roman's going to give it to her….

Lust in Translation—Sex without borders.
This is the third book in the series and I have to say that it is about an attorney (defender). This series is about the Angelis family, which consists of 3 brothers and a sister and the Angelis men of this series have a bit of trouble following them as they find the women that they will fall in love with.
This novel is about Theo Angelis the middle brother who is an attorney and finds that his younger brother's best friend is in trouble and so is his sister Sadie. Theo and Sadie go through a lot in this novel because she is suspected of the same crime as her critical brother who is in the hospital fighting for his life. Theo makes Sadie dress up like a man so that he can keep her safe and so she is transformed into Theo's law student assistant. I loved reading this novel so much because it was sexy and suspensful all wrapped in one awesome novel. It kept me on my toes and turning the pages for more. But I'm afraid that this novel and the other three in the series are no longer in print since it came out last year around this time. Here is the description of the book from the back cover and picture:
THE DEFENDER $ 4.99 (Book 3)(248 Pages)
If passion is a crime…
Theo Angelis definitely puts the “hot” in “hotshot lawyer.” Or at least, that’s attorney Sadie Oliver’s opinion. Even a simple handshake has her weak in the knees. If only there was time to explore the barely contained chemistry simmering between them…. But there isn’t. Because Sadie desperately needs Theo’s help. Her brother lies in the hospital facing a murder charge, and her sister is missing. And even Sadie herself is being followed by unsavory looking characters. But Sadie’s not about to take it lying down (unless Theo asks, of course). Her solution? To play an active role in the case, disguised as a law student. To anyone looking, Sadie will simply be another of Theo’s male interns. But the heat in Theo’s eyes never lets her forget she’s all woman…

Pump Up Your Book Promotion
Pump Up Your Book Promotion
“We take books to the virtual level!”

It is such a pleasure to have one of my favorite authors as a guest here on my blog today. I was approached by Dorothy Thompson to host Lisa Jackson here on my blog a month ago and I grabbed at that opportunity immediately. This is her first stop on her Virtual Book Tour with Pump Up Your Book Promotion agency, which Dorothy Thompson is the founder of. I got her new release Left to Die, which I finished over the weekend so I could have my review of it for today and here is the link to the review. It was such a great opportunity for me to interview Ms. Jackson about her writing and current release and the first book in her new series. Lisa Jackson is a New York Times bestselling author that writes to most intense novels with murderers and serial killers that keep you guessing until the very end and heroes and heroines that makes you think that they are real people instead of just characters. Here is how my interview went with Lisa Jackson went:

* * * * *

Phoebe Jordan: When did you know that writing romance was going to be the thing that you would do with your life?

Lisa Jackson: It kind of just happened to me. My sister read an article in TIME magazine when my children were very young about mothers writing romance when their children were asleep and she decided we both should give it a whirl. We did. We both sold. (First her, then me) That was the beginning of a nearly 30 year career as an author.

Phoebe: Did you know what type of romance you wanted to write about or did you experiment with different genres before you chose the one that you felt was for you?

Lisa: I always wanted to write romantic suspense as I was a suspense/mystery reader. Believe me, it took a while to get here. I started writing category romance and was instructed to "take out the suspense." So, there was a little suspense in those first books, but later in the last fifteen years I've been able to infuse more, which suits me just fine.

Phoebe: What was the first fiction you ever wrote? And do you still have it with you?

Lisa: My first attempt was with my sister and another woman. Entitled STORMY SURRENDER, it was rejected all over New York and is long gone. I have no idea where it is. Next year my first book written with my sister, author Nancy Bush, will be published. WICKED GAME comes out in February 2009, the first joint effort since the ill-fated STORMY SURRENDER.

Phoebe: How much research do you have to do for your novels and did it take you a long time to gather that research?

Lisa: I research as I write, but I have a library of nonfiction books and rely on the Internet as well as professionals in fields from psychology to law enforcement.

Phoebe: How did you come up with the TO DIE series?

Lisa: I wanted to set stories in a smaller, rural environment and the plot for LEFT TO DIE came to me. It just so happened that years before my editor had suggested I write about detectives who were partners and both female. I wasn't too keen on the idea and set it aside until I started writing LEFT TO DIE and the character of Regan Pescoli formed in my mind. She's just so out there--a single mother of two who has a wild streak. Her partner, uptight Selena Alvarez has her own secrets. Once I met these two women, who are NOT the heroines of the story, I was on my way. As soon as Jillian Rivers hit the pages, the story really formed. (Yes, Jillian's the heroine who just learns that her first husband who left her holding the bag on an investment fraud is actually alive!)

Phoebe: Do you have a process of how you start to write one of your novels? And is it the same or different with each novel you write?

Lisa: Each novel is different, of course. But I always write from a detailed (50-70 page) synopsis which takes about as much time to create as the actual manuscript.

Phoebe: How did you feel when you finally saw your first published book came out in print and how do you feel about your other novels being published?

Lisa: It was and is always a thrill.

Phoebe: How many books are you planning to write for the TO DIE series after your first novel Left to Die? Do you have any other series or stand alone novels planned after you finish the TO DIE series?

Lisa: Currently I have three books planned for the TO DIE series. LEFT TO DIE in August 2008, CHOSEN TO DIE in August 2009 are already approved. The third BORN TO DIE is still pretty rough; I haven't written a full synopsis yet. So we'll see.

Phoebe: Which do you like best, writing a series or writing stand alone novels? How is writing each different for you?

Lisa: I like both, really. Stand-alone novels are new and fresh each time, you don't have to worry about keeping things straight from book to book. But writing a series is like meeting old friends again, they're comfortable. They have histories already written. I really do enjoy both.

Phoebe: How do you handle your writing schedule, your book signing appearances, and your personal life without going insane?

Lisa: Badly. It's important to give the most valuable things in your life time, energy and love. You have to be able to prioritize.

Phoebe: What do you do to relax after having spent a long while writing?

Lisa: I love to spend time with my friends and family. We play cards, hang out at the beach. I do crossword puzzles with my sister and play with my dogs. Currently I'm planning some trips that don't involve a book tour.

Phoebe: Is there any advice that you would give to an aspiring romance writer that you wish someone had given you?

Lisa: It sounds corny but write from the heart rather than for the market. If you do, your story will be unique and fresh. That said, don't expect to sell something that is unmarketable. It's a business.

Phoebe: Is there any advice that you would give to an aspiring romance writer looking to find a critique partner and/or critique group that you think would be beneficial and wish someone had give you the same advice?

Lisa: Be careful of whom you chose. Make certain that person has the same vision for your book as you do. Your critique person must be totally trustworthy and as into your books as he/she is with his/her own. They should be fun, yet serious and one partner can't write three books in a year and the other struggles with one. It has to be a give and take situation, like a marriage. Just don't be afraid of divorce if things don't work out.

It was such an honor to interview Ms. Jackson and learn more about her and her writing. I hope that you check out Lisa Jackson's new release Left to Die which is now available at Amazon.com, Barnes and Nobles and any of your local stores. Comment away about the interview and any questions you may have that I might be able to answer.
Lisa Jackson is another author that I stumbled upon while I was at Barnes & Noble looking for new books to add to my collection of books. I've read a lot of Lisa Jackson's books since I stumbled upon her novels. I've enjoyed most of them but there was one or two that I wasn't a big fan of but I enjoyed them. But when I picked her current release Left to Die I had a feeling it was going to be good but I was wrong. It was excellent and I have to say one of her best that I've read so far. From the beginning the story caught me because this new serial killer has intrigued me but not just that but the characters Detectives Selena Alverez and Detective Regan Pescoli captured my attention. These two female detectives are very different from one another but they work well together and they make me the reader want to get to know them better and understand what drives them.
Jillian Rivers and Zane MacGregor are very fascinating characters that really kept my attention because Jillian is attracted to Zane but doesn't know him, he's a stranger to her but he saved her from the car wreck didn't he. But isn't that what this serial killer does? The serial killer sets up car accidents for women driving down secluded roads, rescues and seduces them and then ties them to trees and leaves them to die. That is enough to keep Jillian on edge about her savior Zane who she knows nothing about. So throughout the novel you get peeks into the killers mind and how the killer thinks about his prey. You see the FBI and the local police working hard trying to find this serial killer before he strikes again. I have to say that I didn't see that ending coming but it answered a few of my questions that I had throughout the novel. The ending also did make me want for Ms. Jackson to hurry up and make the second book, CHOSEN TO DIE, in the series come out faster than next year. I recommend this series and the other books written by Lisa Jackson. Here are the descriptions of the books and pictures:
LEFT TO DIE $ 7.99 (Book 1)(505 Pages)

I recently joined this yahoo group called Midnight Seductions which is managed by 30 wonderful authors that I haven't read but have heard many great things about some of their novels. From August 1st through August 4th they are having a wonderful Summer Bash where there will be a ton of different contests from many different authors. Well I'm participating in their grand prize contest and here is what I had to do in order to be entered in the contest. To enter for the grand prize I had to visit the Midnight Seductions blog. I then select FIVE member authors and visit their websites. Then I had to choose ONE book from each author I selected and write comments about why I'd love to read each of those five books. Then I'd have to post my comments in a public place, such as MySpace, FaceBook, your blogspot, your website, or any yahoo reader group you belong to that allows open promos and reader comments. I obviously chose to post my comments on the books I've chosen here on my blog. Then I have to send an email to midnightseductions1 @ yahoo.com (obviously without the spaces) with "grand prize" in the subject line and a link to the post in the body of the email, and I'll be entered!

The first author that I will be commenting about is Ava Rose Johnson. I've heard many good things about her and her books so I went to visit her website and I found one book that I've seen around the internet a lot and has recently been released. Here is the description about the book The Vampire Oracle: Power and picture which I got from Ava Rose Johnson's website:

The Vampire Oracle: Power by Ava Rose Johnson

Jourdain has spent centuries tracking the Elemental Ruby to Chicago. Desperate to destroy the danger it could cause, he will do anything to find it, even deceive. Bryanne, the ruby’s owner, is fascinated by the stranger who rescued her from the hands of an attacker. Unaware of his motives, she responds to his sexual energy and welcomes him into her bed.

But when an enemy ups the stakes, Jourdain is forced to come clean, Bryanne is unsure where to turn. Should she trust Jourdain or run as fast as she can? One thing’s for sure, the wrong decision could mean death.

The reason I chose this book out of her other book is because I love paranormal novels and vampires are one of my top favorite paranormal creatures that I love to read about. I was also intrigued when I read the blurb but what really got me was the amazing excerpt. After I read it I knew that I had to have this book, but unfortunaly for me it will have to wait until I safe up enough money to afford it. It is definitely on my wishlist for when I start shopping for new novels. The cover also did capture my attention but it has that mysterious man with the strange looking vampire teeth.

The second author that I will be commenting about is L.A. Day. I've heard many good things about her and her books, I even won her book Satin Seductions, so I went to visit her website and I found one book that caught my attention immediately. Here is the description about the book Double Penetration and picture which I got from L.A. Day's website:

Double Penetration by L.A. Day

Grey is a vampire tired of his barren existence. Long ago, he learned to feed without killing but still he doesn't dare get close to a human. A feisty female being attacked by two males piques his interest and he rescues her. Shannon enthralls him but he knows he shouldn't get involved. Grey burns with desire for her but knows he can't force an immortal existence on her.

Shannon is a cancer survivor but, robbed of her ability to have children, she feels empty inside—barren, worthless, less than a woman. Their souls collide when they make love but she doesn't think he'll want a permanent relationship with her. Grey can have anyone.

Just when she feels whole again, a taste of her blood confirms that her cancer has returned. Grey wants her as his immortal mate but will either survive a vengeance-seeking vampire?

The reason I chose this book was because the title really caught my attention right from the start. When I read the blurb it kept my attention because it was yet again another paranormal novel about one of my top favorite paranormal creature the vampire. The cover is beatiful and very distracting but I have to say that excerpt was too short for me but I guess they only give you enough to catch you on their hook and reel you in to buy the book. And yet unfortunaly for me it will have to wait until I safe up enough money to afford it but it is definitely on my wishlist for when I start shopping for new novels.

Now for the third author that I will be commenting about is Paige Tyler. I've heard many good things about her and her books, I even chatted with her a couple of times, so I went to visit her website and I found one book that caught my attention immediately. Here is the description about the book The Cutler Brothers Series and picture which I got from Paige Tyler's website:

The Cutler Brothers Series by Paige Tyler

Three hot novels in one print volume!

Book One–Cade

The beautiful, but irritating Riley Barnett has been a thorn in the side of the U.S. Marshals Service ever since she entered the Witness Protection Program. And now that she once again believes her identity has been compromised, new U.S. Marshal Cade Cutler is the one sent to placate her. When it turns out that she’s right this time, Riley has to depend on Cade to protect her, even if that means putting up with his spankings every time she refuses to follow his silly rules!

Book Two–Madoc

After attending his brother’s wedding, U.S. Marshal Madoc Cutler knows one thing for sure–there is absolutely no way he would ever fall for a woman as quickly as his brother did. But he can certainly appreciate an attractive woman, and when he comes across a beautiful waitress at a small-town diner, he can’t help but notice her. However, things become complicated when he recognizes her as the runaway fugitive, Shayna Matthews. His plan to quickly transport her back to Denver to stand trial goes awry when a snowstorm forces them to take shelter in a tiny, secluded cabin in the woods. Could he possibly have been wrong about not falling for a woman as quickly as his brother did?

Book Three-The Cutler Brides

In the third book of the series, both Cade and Madoc are back, as well as their naughty brides, Riley and Shayna. While down in Texas for a family get-together, the two girls decide to go searching for a buried treasure described in local folklore. Unfortunately, they don’t have a lot of luck finding the treasure, but they do find a mystery that needs solving. They begin poking around a suspicious mining company. Even though this gets Riley and Shayna repeated spankings from their husbands, the girls refuse to give up. They’re going to find out what’s going on, no matter what!

The reason I chose this book was because it was three books in one volume and I love me a novel with more than one story. And it also caught my attention because Paige is one of my MySpace buddies and she has posted a couple of comments about this book on my MySpace comments. When I read the blurb it kept my attention because it was about three brothers and the women that they fall in love with.

Now for the fourth author that I will be commenting about is Rita Thedford also known as Regina Carlysle. I've heard many good things about her and her books, I even chatted with her a couple of times and won one of her print novels, so I went to visit her website and I found one book that caught my attention immediately. Here is the description about the book Tempted and picture which I got from Rita Thedford's website:

Tempted by Rita Thedford

Known as Miss Temptation by the Haute Ton, Elizabeth Grayson is a cool, remote beauty who avoids the marriage-trap at every opportunity. She hasn’t time for men and babes while seeking justice for her murdered sister. Hiding in the shadows of night, Elizabeth leads a dangerous double-life which could very well be her undoing.

Christian Delaford, the eighth Duke of Haverton, newly returned from escapades in the Orient, must be married by midnight of his birthday or forfeit everything to a distant relative. When he sees Elizabeth, he knows he must have her. The cool beauty leads him in a crazy chase but when he learns her dark secret, can the strength of his love save her from the hangman’s noose?

The reason I chose this book was because the beautiful blue cover really caught my attention. When I read the blurb it kept my attention because it was a historical novel which I really love to read. They are one of my top favorite genres besides paranormal novels. The excerpt was too short for me but I guess they only give you enough to catch you on their hook and reel you in to buy the book. And yet unfortunaly for me it will have to wait until I safe up enough money to afford it but it is definitely on my wishlist for when I start shopping for new novels.

Now for the fifth and last author that I will be commenting about is Adriana Kraft. I've heard many good things about her and her books so I went to visit her website and I found one book that caught my attention immediately. Here is the description about the book Smoldering Passion and picture which I got from Adriana Kraft's website:

Smoldering Passion by Adriana Kraft

Anything for her art! With her graduate stipend running out, budding artist Melissa Hopkins applies for a job where her aunt used to work–at a New York center for sexuality.

Sworn off women after a disastrous relationship, Center Director Harry Gage ignores the danger signals and hires the striking young woman who reminds him of his former lover. Her air of innocence will captivate center viewers, so he’s sure she’ll be a hit on camera. What he’s not prepared for is how she pierces his heart.

When the sparks ignite, is it love or just sex–and what must each of them risk to find out?

The reason I chose this book was because the lovely cover really caught my attention. When I read the blurb it kept my attention because it had the my home state New York as the setting. The excerpt was too short for me but I guess they only give you enough to catch you on their hook and reel you in to buy the book. I also thought that the author had something which really caught me from the first when I visited her website. And yet unfortunaly for me it will have to wait until I safe up enough money to afford it but it is definitely on my wishlist for when I start shopping for new novels.

Now that is all five Midnight Seductions member authors and their books. I hope that you check these very cool authors websites and their books. Comment away about them and any questions you may have that I might be able to answer.

I love reading Catherine Coulter's books and the Sherbrooke Bride Series is a one the best series that she has written. It's a historical romantic series with a lots of suspense and murder. This is one of her best series that I've ever read because the Sherbrooke family is not only have a loving family they also have ghosts and a lot of problems that following them. I've been reading her books since my mom's friend gave me her daughter's old books and Catherine Coulter's Warrior Song was in the mix with my first Nora Roberts book Three Fates. I have almost all of Catherine Coulter's books and I've read all of them. This is the current book in the Sherbrooke Bride Series and it is very different from the other books in the series. I have to say that it was a bit hard to follow at times because it was about a strange place with these strange animals and such. I also had a difficult time trying to understand what was going on between the hero Nicholas and the heroine Rosalind because their relationship is a little different than others that I've read. But I also enjoyed it when I finally understood what the hell was going on. So I guess my overall review for this book is that you have to really focus on what is going on and forget about all the impossible names of the foreign creatures that talked about. I loved the ending though and I got the answers I was looking for. Here are the description of the book from the back cover and
picture:

WIZARD’S DAUGHTER $ 7.99 (Book 10)(359 Pages)

Dear Reader:

When Ryder Sherbrooke finds a child nearly beaten to death in an alley in Eastbourne, he takes her home to Brandon House. She doesn’t speak for six months. Her first words, oddly enough, are a haunting song:

I dream of beauty and sightless night
I dream of strength and fevered might
I dream I’m not alone again
But I know of his death and her grievous sin.

Ah, and just what does this strange song mean that was seemingly imprinted on the child’s brain?

She names herself Rosalind de La Fontaine since she cannot remember who she is. In her first season in London in 1835, under the aegis of the Sherbrookes, she meets Nicholas Vail, the seventh Earl of Mountjoy, newly arrived from Macau. It is instant fascination on both their parts, but for different reasons. With Grayson Sherbrooke, they are led to an ancient copy of a mysterious book written by a sixteenth-century wizard. The book is written in a baffling code that neither Grayson nor Nicholas can read.

But Rosalind can easily. Strange things start happening. Both Nicholas and Rosalind know it has to do with the old book, and, perhaps, even her past, particularly the song she first sang as a child. The urgency builds as they realize Rosalind is the key to a centuries-old mystery. I hope you enjoy Wizard’s Daughter and all the extraordinary characters you will meet. Do let me know what you think. Write to me at readmoi@gmail.com.

Enjoy,

Well I stumbled upon Kinley MacGregor when I was at Barnes and Noble and I liked what I read on the back cover and decided to get it. This book is the current book in both her MacAlister and Brotherhood of the Sword Series. I enjoyed so much because Lochlan MacAlister and Catarina are both very intriguing characters. They also seem to really get on each others nerves very nicely and I think that makes for some interesting reading. It had a strong heroine who could fight her own battles but has her weaknesses like anyone else. I also loved the handsome and emotionally scarred hero who couldn't totally ignore the lovely yet very stubborn and pushy heroine. I think that Catarina is just the woman that Lochlan needs after he experienced a very rough childhood with his horrible and cruel father. I was as surprised as Lochlan when he finally found out Catarina's true identity and that was a very nice twist to the story. I couldn't put the novel down once I started it and I was content with the way that the book ended because I think Lochlan finally got the peace he needed about his brother Kieran. I also have to say that sometimes when I read Kinley MacGregor's historical romance novels it reminds me of Cathy Maxwell's historical romance novels. Here is the description of the book from the back cover and picture:

THE WARRIOR $ 6.99 (Book 7)(344 Pages)

Trust No One…

Lochlan MacAllister was born to lead. Ruthlessly groomed to take control of his clan, he has given his life to his people. But when he learns that the brother he thought was dead might still be alive, he embarks on a quest to find the truth.

Catarina wants a life of freedom. But now Catarina’s royal father wants to use her as a pawn to ensure a treaty between conflicting lands. So much so that he’s willing to kidnap his daughter to force the issue. But when she escapes, fate throws her into the path of a man she loathes.

Lochlan is stunned to find the shrewish Cat being hauled away by unknown men. Unwilling to see even her suffer, he frees her only to learn that she has her own demons to fight. When their fates intertwine, two people who know nothing of trust must rely on each other, two enemies who have vowed their eternal hatred must find common ground, or see their own lives shattered.
