I love reading Katie MacAlister's books because she writes romance either contemporary, paranormal or historical and they have a way about it that makes me laugh when I read. Her books are always fun to read and I enjoy them. I really loved reading her hilarious swash buckling pirate book Blow Me Down because it was funny and romantic all in one, which I think is a good combination together. I just read this book from Dorothy Garlock named Train from Marietta and I thought it was awesome! Dorothy Garlock is a New York Times bestselling author and she is even quoted as "THE VOICE OF AMERICA'S HEARTLAND." Dorothy Garlock writings mostly in the time period of the 1920s and 1930s but she also writes in the time period of the 1980s. I personally love to read her books, which I stumbled on to while I was walking around Barnes & Noble one day searching for new books. I thought that Kate Tyler is one interesting heroine and it's such a joy to read about New York City in those times of the 1930s even though it wasn't set so much in the city. I stumbled upon Celia May Hart's book One More Time when I was at Barnes & Noble looking for new books to buy. I was instantly attracted to the book cover and when I read the description of the book from the back cover I knew I just had to buy it and read it as soon as I get home. I love Susan Johnson because I was lucky enough to stumble upon her books one day at Barnes & Noble. I reach for some of her books and I knew I had to buy them because if I didn't I would be missing out on good reads. I seem to be on a romantic suspense whim, eh? Well... gotta admit, they're truly breathtaking. Here's another of Elizabeth Lowell's novels, Always Time to Die, which goes very deeply into the subject of family and genealogy.
Genealogist Carly May is hired by elderly Winifred Castillo Simmons to research her Castillo family history. Carly makes the acquaintance of Dan Duran, a man with a haunted past and a mysterious connection to the Quintrell family. Sparks fly between Dan and Carly as the romantic tension heats up along with the suspense, for someone doesn't want Carly digging into the past. Narrator Maria Tucci adds authenticity to this novel with her expert pronunciation of the Latino surnames, as well as her subtle yet convincing nuances when speaking for the various characters. The intensity of her expression heightens the most suspenseful moments, providing listeners with a quality narrative.
My turn...
Lowell truly researches her subject. Here we have a family historian who brings up the subject of DNA which is central to the plot here. I loved the biology in here, and learning about mtDNA and more about genes. You are literally kept at the edge of your seat, wondering who's who and what's going on. Lowell was one of the first authors who got me into suspense, and she shines once more here, totally going out of her way to simultaneously spook us and surprise us. I had NO idea who Josh Quintrell truly was. Did I say I love Lowell? I do, I really do.

As for me...
This is one of the single most heart-wrenching books I have ever read. I'm not a crier, but the end made me bawl. That, and the fact that Diaz is one of the most inherently understanding men I have ever met in fiction. Except for when he pissed Milla off. Out of all the Howards I've read before, this could possibly be my favourite. She shines in here, truly understanding the human nature and how the mind and body work together (or, at times, not at all).

Michele Bardsley is another author that I stumbled upon on my trip to Barnes & Noble looking for new books to buy. I instantly fell in love with the Broken Heart, Oklahoma Vampire Series and I can't wait for the next 2 books in the series to come out this year! I recently saw that Woodiwiss had a newly released novel in hardcover and that is was on bargained sale for $ 4.98 I said to myself that I would be a fool to pass up an opportunity if I don't buy it now. Lisa Jackson is another author that I stumbled upon while I was at Barnes & Noble looking for new books to add to my collection of books. I first bought her New Orleans series when it was just starting out and have continued buying the books in this series because they are all full of suspense and romance that I just wait for the next book to come out.
