Keta Diablo is one of my favorite erotic romance authors and because I enjoyed her male/male contemporary erotic romance releases Crossroads, Crossroads Revisited and Crossroads Showdown, which are the first three books in her Crossroads series and her Male/Male contemporary short story, Hot and Sticky, with Amber Quill | Amber Allure. So when I got the chance to read her just upcoming Male/Male historical novella, Long, Hard Ride, with the new online publisher Decadent Publishing. I read a very intriguing excerpt on Keta's website that had me wanting to read the novel as soon as possible. The story starts off where we meet Grayson Drake and he has been sent by a covert spy agency from the South to break Marx Wellbourne out of Elmira Prison at all costs. Gray has been ordered to return Wellbourne to Richmond so the Confederate Army can pick his brain about the maps he’s memorized but Gray soon discovers Marx is courting death from malaria and pneumonia.

I do love paranormal romances very much because the authors create this totally different world that is similar to our own world. But these worlds these authors create are filled with all these paranormal creatures that we only think is myth but are totally real in paranormal romances. I know that author Jessica Coulter Smith loves to read paranormal romances so when she writes paranormal romances are what she ends up creating. I had the pleasure of hosting her guest blog about her release Moonlight Protector, which is the first book of her paranormal Ashton Grove Werewolves series and I also reviewed it as well. I also had the pleasure of interviewing her as well if you want to find out more about Jessica's writing and about some of her hobbies and favorite authors. I reviewed her second and third book in her series fabulous series called Moonlight Hero and Moonlight Guardian for both Jessica and her publisher Wild Horse Press and what a nice read that was for me. I also had the pleasure of reviewing the sort of prequel to her Ashton Grove Werewolves series that was previously published by another online publisher but was re-issued with Wild Horse Press called, Whispering Lake.

Well today I'm reviewing Jessica's May 25th release novel, Moonlight Champion, the fourth book in her Ashton Grove Werewolves series, which I was lucky enough to receive an advanced review copy from Wild Horse Press a few days ago. I love Jessica's novels and was happy that they sent me a copy to review because I've read the blurb for this novel a while back before it was given an official released date on Jessica's website. Since reading the first book in her wonderfully written Ashton Grove Werewolves series I have been anxiously waiting for the next book in the series to be published as soon as possible because I am officially addicted! Now we all have read about the three Andrews brothers, Cole, Gabriel and Michael finding their mates and having their happily ever after though they had some trouble along the way. But now it's their cousin Conner Tierney's turn to find his mate and have his happily ever after.

I have read a couple of ebooks published by Wild Horse Press which include ebooks by Jessica Coulter Smith, Linda Palmer, Paige WarrenT.L. MitchellJ. L. Oiler, Julie Kimbrell and Jessie Colter. Today I will be reviewing Linda Palmer's paranormal young adult called, My-Wolf, which is the first book of her Wolf of My Heart series and I was happy to get a copy to review. The heroine of the novel, Andee Rivera, has no idea what she's getting into when she saves Jonah Killebrew from drowning in a chilly mountain lake which is where the house she stopped by to check up on the cat that her professor asked her to care for. He's badly injured—wild animal bites from the look of his wounds—and as a fledgling healer, she wants to help him recover. But his bites are more than they seem to be and all the potions and salves in the world may not be enough to save him. Linda has yet to disappoint me when ever I pick up a copy of her paranormal young adult novels. Her novels have always kept me on my toes and wanting more even when I have finished reading her novel. I had such fun reading it that I seriously was dreading finishing this novel since I didn't want it to end which always happens when I read Linda's novels. Linda Palmer delivers yet another wonderfully suspenseful and exciting young adult novel about a young woman who finds out something unexpected about herself and is also dragged into a whole new world that is not freaking her out since she found her true love. This novel is just the start of a great series that I have to recommend to both young adult and adults alike since it is filled with young love and exciting suspense that will have you on the edge of your seat. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for all of Linda's future young adult novels since she is seriously becoming one of my favorite YA authors. I give this book 4.5 Open Books:

I have read a couple of ebooks published by Wild Horse Press which include ebooks by Jessica Coulter Smith, Linda Palmer, Paige WarrenT.L. MitchellJ. L. Oiler and Julie Kimbrell. Today I will be reviewing Jessie Colter's debut paranormal young adult called, Heart's Desire, which I was happy to get a copy to review. The hero of the novel, Morgan Raines, transferred to a new high school his senior year and starting over doesn't bother him, but finding his mate pinned to her locker by her Neanderthal ex-boyfriend does. From day one, Morgan and Skye are inseperable, despite the fact her ex keeps getting in the way of there budding relationship. But will Skye's feelings change when she realizes he turns into a panther every time the moon is full? Or can true love conquer all? I certainly think that true love conquer's all since it is a beautiful thing that everyone strives to one day discover. I love paranormal young adult novels and I had such fun reading it that I seriously was dreading finishing this novel since I didn't want it to end. Jessie Colter delivers a wonderfully suspenseful and exciting young adult debut novel about a young woman who finds her true love is a shapeshifting panther that would do anything for her. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for all of Jessie's future young adult novels since she has hooked me to her writing from reading the first page of her debut novel until the very end. Today I have the pleasure of reviewing an Advance Readers Copy of Keta Diablo's upcoming release from Ravenous Romance called The Sin Eater's Prince, which you got a sneak peek at in the anthology, Boys of the Bite. I've had the pleasure of reviewing several of Keta's other books and was excited about getting my hands on a copy of her first full-length vampire novel. And I have to say I'm glad that I did because though I had a lot of things going on in my life I had a great time reading it. The novel starts with the hero, Owen Rhys, the sin eater of his village in Wales, who has been shunned by the local villagers his entire life—except by Andras Maddock, the local physician who is the other hero of the novel. We see how Owen lives by himself since his father's death with no one to care for him or love him the way he wants to be love. Owen and Andras have a chemistry that you can read from the very start of the novel when Owen is called to go about doing his job as a Sin Eater with Andras going with him as a doctor to the families homes. At first Owen is trying to deny that he was in love with the one man he thinks will never return that love but all that changes. Owen is shocked when Andras saves him from death at the hands of a vampire and admits he cares deeply for Owen. Owen suspected that Andras was a vampire for a while but it wasn't until the attack that he finally confirmed his suspicion that he was a long tooth that his father had warned him about.
Dagan, son of Traherne, the vampire Andras killed to save Owen, will stop at nothing to avenge his father’s death and obtain the Prince of Wales’s mystic sword from Andras. The divine claymore holds the power to grant immunity from the sun’s harsh rays—the one exemption the dark Lords of the Underworld has sought for centuries. While reading this novel I did have to trouble with the Welsh words that were used throughout the novel, which sometimes happens when I read historical romances, but that didn't take away from my enjoying the plot of the story. There is a lot of revenge, redemption, dark versus light, good versus evil in this novel that had me virtually flipping the pages to find out what will happen next for Owen and Andras. There are some pretty heated love scenes between Owen and Andras that had me wanting them to never end since I could practically feel the heat and lust coming from the both. I always seem to enjoy the love scenes from Keta's books both erotic romances and m/m erotic romances because they are so tastefully written. Keta Diablo delivers a novel that is about star-crossed love and sorcery mixed with physical lust and blood lust combined that will keep you on your toes wanting to know what will happen next. I have to say again that I'm glad that I got the chance to get my hands on an ARC of this novel because it was such a joy to read. I look forward to reading any of Keta's future books and we may be lucky enough to get another book about Owen and Andras since I think that the ending of this novel might just be the beginning for them. I have read a couple of ebooks published by Wild Horse Press which include ebooks by Jessica Coulter Smith, Linda Palmer, Paige Warren and T.L. Mitchell. So when Wild Horse Press contacted me to inquire if I accepted review requests from publishers and asked me if I would like to review an ARC of J.L. Oiler's debut novel Blood Dance, which is the first book of her Seeds of Oden series and I accepted. I love their website because it is so clean and easy to find everything you would like to know about their authors, books and submission guidelines and more. I might really consider submitting my manuscript to them if I ever get it finished and editing enough to fit their requirements for submission. Well onto the book review for J.L. Oiler's debut novel, Blood Dance, that I will say right off I really enjoyed reading and I would love to read the next book in the series. This book isn't to be released until Tuesday, January 26th, 2010 so if you want to read the book as soon as you read this review you are going to have to wait a couple of weeks but it will be worth the wait I tell you. The Crimson Erotica is Pittsburgh’s hottest night club and even in the middle of the week patron clamor to get through the door so that they could party until they dropped from having a good time. But no one who entered the club would ever imagine it is something far different or that the shapely dancer who owns the club with her two sisters is far from an ordinary human.
Named for the god of war, Ares has always lived up to the reputation of the name her father gave her though she had her soft spot of her younger sisters. Born to be the bloodmate of Kaden, one of the leaders of an ancient race of vampire’s who have sworn to protect mankind from their predatory counterparts, she is torn between her promise to reunite her younger siblings and her desire for the one man who makes her pulse race. Can she surrender to her destiny and help protect mankind from the evil that stalks them or will she just continue to sway in the denial on the Blood Dance? I think that Ares will surrender to her destiny and help protect mankind from the evil that stalks them with her bloodmate Kaden because she has lived too long without the passionate love that they instantly share. It was so much fun getting to know more about the Seeds of Oden in this first book of the series because I enjoyed reading more about this world filled with good and bad vampires with the mix of 12 female bloodmates that are part-human. Ares and Kaden have got some issues that they may have to work out with their new bloodmate relationship since she has always been with the one mindset of reunited her younger siblings. I think they will make it and I hope to read more about their growing relationship in any of the future books of this series. J.L. Oiler delivers a steamy and thrilling debut paranormal romance novel as well as a wonderful start to a gripping new series that will have to anxious to get your hands on the next book. I am hooked and I can't wait to get my hands on J.L's next book, Blood Dawn, of her Seeds of Oden series which is going to be out in Summer of 2010 if all goes accordingly. Linda Palmer is a former Silhouette romance author now a young adult author that I recently discovered but one that I will definitely be keeping an eye out for in the future after reading her paranormal young adult novel, The Cinderella Swap, which she contacted me to review for her. I also had the pleasure of getting to review her current released paranormal young adult novel, Jaguar Moon, from one of my favorite e-publishers Wild Horse Press as well as Linda's upcoming February 2010 young adult release, Operation Normal, that I was so excited to get the honor of reviewing an ARC since I was totally needing my Linda Palmer Young adult fix since first starting reading her novels. Now today I'm reviewing another ARC of Linda's upcoming December 2009 release called, Storm Swept, from yet again one of my favorite e-publishers Wild Horse Press. I was so happy to get an ARC of this novel because I fell in love with Linda Palmer's first young adult novel, The Cinderella Swap, that I knew this upcoming novel will be just as great a read with some new characters to fall in love with. I've only recently gotten into reading young adult romance novels and since then I've been hunting up as many young adult romance authors I could find to read. I was very intrigued when I read the blurb for this novel and the cover was also really beautiful that I had to read it.
I was so excited when I started reading this novel and I have to say that it actually took me about a couple of days to finish up this novel though her previous YA novels I gobbled up in a few hours. Well the novel starts when the heroine, Jenny Jefferson, agrees to help her sister open a B&B but she doesn't know that Jase Edwards will be working there, too. Jenny and Jase have history—an angry encounter at her sister's wedding four years ago. This time around their chemistry is as intense and supercharged as the lightning snaking down from the storm clouds overhead. Not even a mischievous house ghost can distract them from each other. But something far more sinister lurks in the shadows, and its eye is on Jenny. Can she and Jase unravel the mystery of the house's tragic past before history repeats itself? So this novel wasn't exactly what I was expecting when I read the blurb because I sometimes had a bit of trouble understanding what was going on with Jenny and Jase as well as their mysterious haunting ghost. It took me a while to really get into the story which is completely different from Linda's other novels which just sucked me in from the very beginning.
I loved the characters Jenny and Jase as well as Jenny's older pregnant sister but what kept throwing me off the story was the haunting ghost in the B&B that kept attacking Jenny. I was really not sure what to think of who the hell that ghost is and why it was only attacking Jenny and not her pregnant sister or even Jase. Other than that I loved the way Jenny and Jase really started to get to know each other better though they had a very bad first impression of each other from their sister and brother's wedding celebration. Jenny and Jase are wonderful characters that after some time together can see that they are both really good and caring people who love their family very much. They also have some very intense chemistry going on between them that I sometimes could see the words sizzling while I was reading though they stayed true to their vows of not persuing a phyiscal relationship with one another until they knew each other full in a month or so. I am still so happy that I was lucky enough to get an ARC of Storm Swept even though it took me a while for me to really love reading it. I was a bit sad that it had to come to an end though it was a satisfying end that may have potentional of giving us a follow up story for Jenny and Jase if Linda ever decided to write more on them and their families. Linda Palmer delivers yet another exciting and wonderfully written young adult with suspense, romance and a bit of paranormal elements to have you questioning who the haunting ghost of the B&B is and why is it after Jenny and not any of the other characters. I'm sure glad I did because I had a great time reading this novel so much that I finished it up in less then 6 hours after I got it uploaded onto my Sony eReader.
I was so excited when I started reading this novel and was really instantly hooked with the main characters who I could sometimes really identify with. Well the novel starts with the heroine, Ally Mills, desperately wanting a "normal" for her half-sister Kayly, which is something she never had herself thanks to her liberated mom. Ally has always been a list maker when it comes to the things she wants to do and so the first thing on her list of to-dos for making a normal life for her half-sister is by contacting Kayly's dad, who promised he'd stay out of Kayly's life just as Ally's own dad once did. When Ally's mom leaves the country on assignment, Ally drops in on the guy to introduce him to his baby daughter but Kayly's dad doesn't live there—her half brother, Zach, does which completely throws Ally. But then Ally is again completely thrown for a lope with his shocking offer to help find "normal" is nothing compared to what happens next for the three of them. WOW and AMAZING are the first two words that came to mind when I finally got finished reading this great novel. I had such fun getting to know Ally who is such a wonderful sister to her baby half-sister Kayly and it was very brave of her to try to get Kayly's father into her life. It was such a wonderful surprise to find that Zach is actually Kayly's half-sister because it means that Ally and Zach can have a future together which I could see happening from the moment they met one another at his apartment. I am so happy that I was lucky enough to get an ARC of Operation Normal because I loved reading it so much I was sad that it had to come to an end though it was a satisfying end that may have potentional of giving us a follow up story for Ally, Kayly and Zach. Keta Diablo is one of my favorite erotic romance authors and because I enjoyed her erotic historical romances I thought I would try out her upcoming male/male contemporary erotic romance release. After reading Keta's Crossroads, the first book in her Crossroads series as well as, Crossroads Revisited, which is the second book in her series. I read a very intense and intriguing excerpt on Keta's website that had me wanting to read the novel as soon as possible especially since I loved the first and second book. Now the main character Frank McGuire is an ex-cop turned private investigator after the death of his police partner Quinn Brennan's death. Frank is a very intriguing character who I really loved reading about because he is such a big, strong and handsome man who has a special ability to commune with the dead since he was a child. His relationship with his partner Quinn was very special to him because he was a father figure who took Frank under his wing and made him apart of his own family. Now Rand is Quinn's son, who has had a crush on Frank since even his father's death, and he really wants to have a relationship with Frank but isn't getting it right now. Rand wants Frank to tell him that he loves him and wants to have an open relationship that shows that to him but Frank is not ready for that even though I know that he does love Rand very much. After everything Rand and Frank have gone through in the first book, Crossroads, things really start to heat up for them both in the second book Crossroads Revisited. The third book in the Crossroads series is about to come out in November and I've had the pleasure of receiving an Advanced Readers Copy. In Crossroads Showdown things get more series in Rand and Frank's relationship which is great because I really love them and want them to have their happily ever after since they've been through a lot together. Tough PI, Frank McGuire, attempts to help the FBI locate three abducted children from a small town in West Virginia and this leads for Rand and Frank's relationship with one another to start to change. While channeling his inner spirit for assistance, he mistakenly calls forth a ghost and as Frank races against time to locate the missing girls, he receives help from the most unlikely of sources. To complicate matters, Rand has decided its time Frank commit to their relationship—or run the risk of Rand being gone for good when he returns.

This book is a must have! If you have read Crossroads and loved it as much as I did then you need to get your hands on a copy of Crossroads Revisited now because it is just as good and even better than the first. But that is not the end because Crossroads Showdown will give you a deeper look into the tough PI Frank which some readers have commented is a bit too touch and sometimes seems a bit cruel. In this novel you will see a new side of Frank because he is not a cruel man but someone who has lived a rough life and has been toughen by it. There is suspense in this novel that will keep you guessing about where things will lead Frank in the end as well as what will happen between Frank and Rand who both seem to be coming a bit to terms about where their relationship is heading. I really liked how Frank and Rand have developed in this novel because I really felt that they could have a great relationship with one another if they had a bit more time together so they could feel each other out enough to be comfortable to show their emotional sides. Keta Diablo delivers yet another steamy, hot, sexy and mysterious male/male erotic romance novel that will have you panting as well as making you want more and for the story to never end since you only just get a peek at Frank's new side. I was sad to have finished this novel in less than 6 hours but I just couldn't stop reading it until I found out how things would end for Frank and Rand after getting to see them together after finally trying to make a start on a real relationship. Now that I've read it I hope that Keta will finishing writing up the last novel in the Crossroads series and gives me more about Frank and Rand so I can see if their relationship will make it like I so want it to. I also had the pleasure of interviewing her as well if you want to find out more about Jessica's writing and about some of her hobbies and favorite authors. I reviewed her current release second book in her series called Moonlight Hero for both Jessica and her publisher Wild Horse Press and what a nice read that was for me. I also had the pleasure of reviewing the sort of prequel to her Ashton Grove Werewolves series that was previously published by another online publisher but was re-issued with Wild Horse Press called, Whispering Lake.
Well today I'm reviewing Jessica's upcoming stand alone novel, Vicus Luna, which I was lucky enough to receive an advanced reading copy from Wild Horse Press a few days ago. I love Jessica's novels and was happy that they sent me a copy to review because I've read the blurb for this novel a while back before it was given an official released date on Jessica's website. Well this novel is a paranormal romance that starts in the town of Windsor, Georgia which is a town that lives in fear of the Vicus Luna, the local werewolf pack. Each month the pack comes out and abducts a woman, someone to do their bidding, who is little more than a slave and it's on one of these nights that Cady Whitmore, the heroine, finds herself cornered by the Vicus Luna. Terrified, she faces three werewolves who wish to claim her as their own but when the alpha decides to claim her, Cady is horrified because of what she's heard of the alpha being a womanizing, chauvanistic, cruel man. When Marshall drags her off to a secluded cabin, she worries for her safety and her life since she has never had a steady boyfriend or lover since she's barely 20 years old. As Cady struggles with many challenges thrown her way, she finds herself caught in a difficult spot because while Marshall may not love her, he isn't ready to let her go. Marshall's friend and fellow pack member, Brendan, knows that Cady is special and will stop at nothing to make sure she's safe.
In the end, the best werewolf will win but which one will it be since not only are Marshall and Brendan involve to keep Cady but then Eric, Brendan's twin, comes along and that just makes this triangle into a square, LOL. So I finished reading this book in about less than a day since I got it and while I was reading it I had very mixed feelings about all the characters in the novel. I actually had to read the last page of the novel to give me an idea of who would end up with Cady since there were about at least 2 men who were after her and I wasn't completely sure who would be the lucky hero to end up with her in a happily ever after. I've done this a couple of times with other books I've read and it has always sort of easied my mind about the characters which were wonderfully written. I had such fun reading this paranormal romance novel since it was about werewolves but completely different from the werewolves we know and love in Jessica's Ashton Grove Werewolves series. I enjoyed her previous stand alone novel that I reviewed for Manic Readers called, Magnolia Magick, which was similar to this novel since it had two men who were involved with the heroine and I was not sure which would be the lucky man to end up with the heroine. In the end Jessica Coulter Smith delivers yet another wonderfully written paranormal romance with werewolves that will have you guessing from start to finish about who will Cady choose to love and make a life with but also make you want the novel to never end. So who loves a good Christmas story? Or a story about Santa Claus? Well I know I sure do especially when I found out about Penny Watson's upcoming debut paranormal romance novel called, Sweet Inspiration, which is about the oldest son of Santa Claus who is one of five big strapping single, sexy sons and also the first book in her Klaus Brothers Series. I was lucky enough to have Penny contact me about scheduling an author interview, author guest blog and book review. The author interview and author guest blog will be schedule to post in December because that is when her debut novel will be officially published for everyone to buy so don't forget to check back to read more about Penny and her debut novel. I was given by Penny an advanced readers copy of the book to review here on my review blog and I was so excited to be given that chance because I really wanted to read this book. I was really intrigued about reading a novel that is Santa Claus family since that is not an ordinary plot in paranormal romance novels. As I read the novel I really feel in love with the characters and was happy to find out that it's a 5 book series for each of the 5 sexy brothers.
Nicholas Klaus is a master pastry chef, a strict disciplinarian, and the eldest son of the legendary Santa Claus. And reading about him was such a pleasure because he is one unique man who I fell in love with along with the heroine. And one look at café owner Lucy Brewster sends him into an unexpected tailspin of lusty desires which he didn't expect since baking sweets in his kitchen have been his only desire in such a long time. They only know each other for less than a day but they an instant attraction that neither of them ever expected to happen when they speak to one another for the first time. But when Lucy is injured, Nicholas makes a decision that catapults both of their lives into turmoil that will help them decide if they are meant to be with one another or if they are just meant for a brief fling. Lucy Brewster, the free-spirited proprietor of Sweet Inspiration, has a flair for concocting sugary confections but no time for adventure that she so desires to happen for her. She gets more than she bargained for when she awakens in the North Pole...rambunctious elves, a fitness-obsessed Santa, and the man of her dreams making her fall in love with him with every day that passes by. But then she asks herself if she has what it takes to become the next Mrs. Klaus?
Well of course Lucy has what it takes to become the next Mrs. Klaus but that may not be what is destined to happen for her and Nicholas as a couple. As I got to know both Lucy and Nicholas I just fell in love with both of them because I knew they were right for one another from the very start but I saw that there would be obstacles that they would have to overcome to make that happen. I also really fell in love with the entire Klaus family because they were just so together even though they were all differently unique with their own talents it didn't get in the way of them caring and loving one another for who they are. Now the elves were a different case because I had a bit of trouble with the elder elves council who were not understanding of Nicholas' passion for cooking as well as his love for Lucy who is a "Suddie" who wasn't supposed to find out about the Klaus family without their permission. I was conflicted with the ending because I was happy that Nicholas and Lucy ended up happily with one another but I was a bit sad to see the novel end. But I was cheered up when I found out that there would be more books about the wonderful Klaus family in the future to look forward to. Penny Watson delivers an exciting and magical debut novel that will have you falling in love with the Klaus family from the very beginning and will not let you go even after the story has ended. I look forward to all of Penny Watson's future books especially the next 4 books in her Klaus Brothers series which I recommend everyone to put on their to-watch list immediately. Also I got some inside information from the author Penny Watson herself that she is now working on the second book in the Klaus Brothers series which is Oskar Klaus' story called Sweet Magik. I give this book 4.5 Open Books:

Linda Palmer is a former Silhouette romance author now a young adult author that I recently discovered but one that I will definitely be keeping an eye out for in the future after reading her young adult novel, The Cinderella Swap, which she contacted me to review for her. Now today I'm reviewing her upcoming October release, Jaguar Moon, from one of my favorite e-publishers Wild Horse Press. I was contacted to review this novel before the release date so that readers looking for a paranormal young adult novel to read know what they are getting from with Jaguar Moon. I'm sure glad I did because I had a great time reading this novel so much that I finished it up in less then 6 hours after I got it uploaded onto my Sony eReader.
Well this novel starts with us meeting Livvie Merrick who hates the psychic gifts that make her different and cause nothing but trouble in her life though that could change if she could learn to control it better. That's especially true when she has a vision that the school's star quarterback will break his leg and naturally Livvie warns him—a warning misconstrued as a curse when it comes true. That makes for a lonely senior year for Livvie until Alex Sawyer moves to town and Livvie has to show him around school because she is part of the Welcome Team. Livvie is quickly lost in his big beautiful blue eyes and though it's clear that Alex is as attracted to her, she knows the day will come when he finds out what a freak she really is. What neither of them knows is that Alex is different, too, and the psychic gifts Livvie despises may be exactly what she needs to save him. Alex and Livvie have a lot of things that they will need to work out because they both have some secrets that they will need to tell each other sooner rather than later if they want their budding relationship to last more than a couple of weeks as is normal for teenage relationships.
As this is my second novel that I've read from Linda Palmer I can tell you that I will be keeping a look out for any of her future young adult books because she has me hooked and not about to let me go any time soon. This novel is such an exciting paranormal young adult novel with so many interesting plot twists that will have you spinning to catch up with all of the fun new things that happen to Livvie and Alex on their journey to finding true love with each other. I absolutely loved it and I can't wait to read any of Linda's future young adult novels if they are just as good as this one. Though it's written in the first person, which I don't generally like to read, I find that Linda has written it in a way that kept my interest from start to finish just like her current release, The Cinderella Swap. Linda Palmer has delivered an exciting paranormal young adult romance with many twists and turns that will keep you wanting more and fill you with excitement trying to figure out if Livvie and Alex will end up with a happily ever after though it seems almost impossible. Today I will be reviewing Tawny Weber's May 2009 Harlequin Blaze release, which I got an ARC of, Going Down Hard. I was lucky enough to have Tawny get in touch with me for an author interview, author guest blog and two book reviews for her April 2009 and May 2009 Harlequin Blaze releases. The first guest blog for her April 2009 release, Coming on Strong, was posted in March and the second guest blog for her May 2009 release, Going Down Hard, was posted at the end of April. I have had the pleasure and honor of interviewing Tawny Weber here on my blog and she answered all the reader comments. I also posted my review for Coming on Strong for you to read because it is the first part and ends with the story in Going Down Hard, which I'm reviewing today. In the first book Coming on Strong we met Sierra and Reece but we didn't get to know them only got glimpses of their hot attraction to entice us into waiting for their own love story.
So in Going Down Hard, Sierra Donovan is flying high on her company’s rising success with her partner and best friend Belle. Her bonus for all of her success is...another sexy one-night-stand with cowboy Reece Carter–also known as the best sex she’s ever had. But when sick blackmail photos start to show up, (we got a little inside peek in the previous novel) fiercely self-reliant Sierra suddenly finds herself needing a 24-hour bodyguard. Now who better than cowboy turned security specialist Reece Carter to protect her because though Reece is tall, dark and dangerous…and he’s getting in Sierra’s take-charge way she knows he can keep her safe. But, oh god, can he make every single nerve ending on her body sizzle and Sierra soon realizes that coming home to great sex each night has its benefits. That is, as long as her bodyguard can keep her alive long enough to enjoy it which I think you may know that from his characteristics he would give his own life for hers if necessary.

Well it has taken me a while to get this novel read and reviewed because life got it the way for me but I have finally finished it. I have to say it wasn't exactly what I thought it would be like when I first read about it. I had a bit of trouble getting into it at first but after midway through the book I was excited to finally find out how things would end for Sierra and Reece. Sierra is a strong and independent woman who has a tough time getting close to the opposite sex especially Reece since she has a very strong sexual attraction that she doesn't want. Reece is a cowboy with military and security background that has not had any luck with the ladies since his horrible marriage to a woman who he thought he loved. Together they may seem like total opposites but that is just on the surface because deep down they are perfect for one another if they would only give themselves the chance to finally figure that out. I give this book 3 Open Books:

This is my third book by the author Lauren Dane and it is part of her Federation series that began with her novel, Undercover, which I had the pleasure of reading an ARC before it came out last year in December. I was lucky enough to have won this ARC of Relentless and I knew it was going to be very a great read because I loved reading her first book, Undercover, with it's unique futuristic world. I've read futuristic books since I'm a fan of J.D. Robb's In Death series but I haven't read many erotic romances before especially with some really erotic sex scenes so this is going out of my realm of reading experience. I was warned by the author just in case because she didn't want me to feel uncomfortable reading and reviewing this novel and I told her not to worry because I love reading new things every chance I can get since I want to become a romance writer one day. First off I have to say I'm super glad that I won the contest because I was only one of a very long, long, long list of readers and authors who wanted to get their own ARC of Relentless. Now onto the very honest review of this book that I promised to deliever to the author Lauren Dane.

Since the first settlers came through the portals from Earth, fifteen Families have held the rule of the Federated Universes in their hands. We got a glimpse of this in the first book Undercover but now you will get a more closer look at how the Federated Universes is handled by the fifteen ranked Families. There’s never been a better time than now to throw out the old and usher in a new order that leads to giving a voice to the unranked. Abbie Haws has spent her life battling the system and as a fighter, she’s always been too busy and driven to pay much attention to finding love. But when she’s granted audience with Roman Lyons, the head of House Lyons, who stands for everything she hates, her instant attraction catches Abbie off-guard. It’s common knowledge that the Known Universe revolves around Ravena—and that Ravena revolves around Roman Lyons, bred to lead since birth. Roman dreads his meeting with a defiant—if stunning—rabble-rouser because he knows that she wants to talk about making changes to the 'Verse's government that would not go over well with the other ranked Houses. But, sometimes, headstrong personalities in the conference room make for hot-and-heavy, guilty trysts in private and now, Abbie will show Roman the parts of her world he wouldn’t otherwise get to see. And he’ll give her a glimpse of the Families’ age old tradition and unleash a sexuality he’d never given rein to before.

I enjoyed reading Undercover because Lauren Dane wrote such a new and exciting universe filled with such characters that were complex enough to keep you guessing with every page you read. Now it was great to get to read more about this futuristic universe that Lauren created in the first book because I knew that there just was something more to the first book. We are introduced to the powerful leader of Ravena, Roman Lyons, and to the unranked advocate, Abbie Haws, in this second novel. They are both strong characters who are trying to do what is in the best interest of the people of the Known Universe both Ranked and Unranked. I was happy to read that Ash and Brandt who were the main hero characters in the previous novel made a couple of appearences in this book. They made those appearences in order to help Roman make the right decision concerning to his ever growing relationship with Abbie.

In this novel we are again dealing with an unranked woman and a ranked man falling in love with each other but having to struggle with various issues along the way that will keep them apart unless they figure something out. The heroine, Abbie, is such a strong independent character who is trying to make a difference in her world even though it may cost heer so much and maybe even her own life. She has a very horrible experience in her past that would have broken many women but she didn't break but made it her mission in life to make it so that the unranked citizens would have their voices her by the ranked citizens. Abbie helps create an organization the will someday make it so that the unranked over every 'Verse can have their voices heard in their government which is controlled by the ranked families.

In comes the hero, Roman, who is the head of the Lyon family and the one who is the leader of government in all the 'Verses. He was groomed to become the head of the family and he had to take control of the family at a young age. He married into the Kerrigan family when he was 18-years-old to give that family a ranked station in the 'Verse as well as to give the Lyon family sons. Roman loves his sons and he hopes for them to one day be good, powerful men who will make their family proud when he finally has to retire. But everything changes when Roman finally meets Abbie for the first time because I think they both have finally met their match. It was such a pleasure reading this completely HOT and SEXY novel that had me flipping the pages and steaming up my glasses every now and again. I fell in love with both Roman and Abbie that I was both happy and sad that the novel had come to an end but at least they come to have the HEA. I give this book 4 Open Books:

This is my first novel by Cynthia Eden and I was lucky enough to have one an Advance Readers Copy but even though I finished before it was released I have been so busy writing reviews for Manic Readers I forgot to write my review for it before it was released. I really liked the blurb and cover for this novel when I first saw it before I was told I won the contest Cynthia Eden was running and was happy that I won the copy before it was released. I'm a fan of paranormal romances with vampires because each author puts their own spin to their type of vampires that it's always fascinating to read about. Maya Black was once a kick-ass cop patrolling the streets of L.A. and though she's a vampire now after a vamp attacked her and left her for dead without realizing she had taken some of his blood. She still keeps the city safe from the criminals that are hidden in the shadows at night but nowadays her bad guys of choice include demons, werewolves, and assorted nocturnal scum, which is something Maya knows a thing or two about. She’s a vampire who is not thrilled about it and payback meet bitch because she is not any ordinary vampire but a special woman vampire to keep you eyes peeled for.
Adam Brody hopes Maya is as dangerous as they say she is because he needs her to help rescue his young niece Cammie from a ruthless band of vamps who kidnapped her and killed her nanny. He’s even willing to pay her...in blood, which he wouldn't have done with any other vamp out there. But trusting her is another entire matter because Adam has never met a vampire who doesn’t lie and even though he can see that Maya is not like other vamps he doesn't completely trust he not to lie to him. He’s never met anyone like Maya because she fills him with a desperate need that ignites into an explosive, no-holds-barred encounters that will chance them both forever. I really enjoyed reading about Maya and Adam because they are so different from one another yet they have this connection with each other that they never expected to happen. There is so much action with twists and turns in this novel that made me so excited to read to find out how things will end with Maya and Adam. I also thought Cammie is such a brave little girl after being kidnapped by such hideous vamps out to drain her for an ancient vamp come back to life. I was happy with the ending but I feel that maybe if Cynthia Eden wanted to she could write more about Maya and Adam because they make a wonderful team together destorying the monsters that go bump in the night from killing humans. I give this book 4.5 Open Books:

This is my second book by the author Lauren Dane and my first book by the author Megan Hart who both wrote this book together. I was lucky enough to have one this ARC of Taking Care of Business and thought it would be a book that I would end up enjoying very much. I'm sorry to say that wasn't the case when I was about a quarter into the novel and started drifting from the novel since the plot was not really grabbing my attention any more. I did finish the novel and was satisfied with the ending but throughout the novel I had to stop because I couldn't keep my attention on the book. I thought the characters were intriguing enough when I started reading it but towards the middle of the novel I felt that there was more sex and not enough emotion to keep my interest anymore. Don't get me wrong I enough having my romance novels full of hot steamy sexy but there has to be some emotion in it mixed with some drama and intrigue as well. I was disappointed a bit that I wasn't getting it here even though I thought that it was going to be a good read. I enjoyed the characters Leah, Kate, Brandon and Charles a.k.a "Dix" because they are characters with personalities that captured me. That doesn't mean that for someone else it will be disappointing because everyone has a different taste in novels and it might be just the book for you. I am sad to say that I have to give this book 3 Open Books:

Today I will be reviewing Tawny Weber's April 2009 Harlequin Blaze release Coming on Strong. I was lucky enough to have Tawny get in touch with me for an author interview, author guest blog and two book reviews for her April 2009 and May 2009 Harlequin Blaze releases. The first guest blog for her April 2009 release, Coming on Strong, will be Thursday, March 26 and the second guest blog for her May 2009 release, Going Down Hard, will be posted at the end of April. Yesterday I interviewed Tawny Weber here on my blog and she answered all the reader comments so that means if you missed it come back tomorrow because she will be stopping by to check if there are any comment questions from readers. I will be reviewing Going Down Hard in April so keep coming back to see when I finally post it.
Mitch Carter and Belle Forsham have a past together that they have left to fester for years after Belle jilted Mitch at the altar. But after years past Mitch is a very sucessful businessman who is in need of an event planner for his new resort. Belle has also really made a success of her life in her partnership with her best friend in their event planning business. The instant Mitch and Belle came face to face with each other again after what happened the last time they were together I knew they still had something between them. I could practically feel the blazing heat and attraction between them though Mitch hid it very well from Belle at the beginning but soon enough they just couldn't resist one another. It was really a pleasure reading about Mitch and Belle's renewed relationship with one another because from the beginning I knew that they would be good together as long as they find a way to resolve their past misfortune. Tawny Weber delivers a blazingly intense love story about two loves who were broken apart by a missunderstanding and a trecherous enemy who hid in the shadows. I look forward to reading Going Down Hard because it will be about Belle's BFF and Mitch's cousin who we meet for the first time in Coming on Strong. I give this book 3.5 Open Books:

Lexi Titan can just see the headlines of the town’s newspaper as well as all the other newspapers out there. With all of Titanville, Texas, buzzing with the latest juicy gossip of a Titan, not that she has any other choice. Lexi is faced with exactly twenty-one days to come up with two million dollars in cold, hard cash and she is out of options or so she thought. Except now she has one option and that is to marry Cruz Rodrigues or lose everything—the chain of day spas she built herself. She could also lose her tyrant of a father’s respect as well as the long-standing competition with her sisters for the family business. The proposal is cold and hard when Cruz delivers it to Lexi at one of her sister’s foundation parties raising money for needy children. Cruz has money, success, smolderingly good looks—everything but the blue blood needed to become a true member of Texas society—that he can’t buy with all the money he has. So if Lexi agrees to be his fiancée for six months, lending him her famous father’s last name and his snobbish connections, he’ll hand her a check for two million dollars on the spot. And in six months they’ll go their separate ways, but neither one is prepared for their long-ago shared passion with each other when they were young to throw a big wrench into what would seem to be the perfect deal. I love Susan Mallery’s novels very much because she always seems to come up with similar yet totally different novels with such compelling characters with intriguing issues. I like her series more than her stand alone novels but they are both very good reads in their own way. Under Her Skin is the first book in her Lone Star Sisters series, which will be officially be released in May 2009 with the second, Lip Service, and the third, Straight from the Hip, releasing in June and July 2009. I look forward to reading about the next two sisters’ love stories. Lexi, which is short for Lexington is the oldest of the three Titan sisters and the one with the most to prove to her father, Jed Titan. The man who was never there for her or her sisters like a real father should. I like Lexi because she is such a real character that is independent, loving, caring and wants to succeed in the career of her choice not that of her fathers. Her relationship with her sisters is not as ideal as she would have liked but they seem very close to each other though the youngest, who is the wild child, seems to be a bit of a flake. Now Cruz is a hot guy who Lexi met when she was in college about 10 years ago and they had this connection that she had never felt before. Then they had one night of passion. Cruz could not handle it because it meant so much to the both of them—he was so scared he had to run from it. But as luck would have it after a decade Cruz needs Lexi’s family connections to help him achieve his new goal. Cruz has some very serious family issues that have really gotten in the way of his past relationships with women but it is really getting in the way of his relationship with Lexi now. They have something real with each other that I really loved reading about especially since their past relationship is what really brought them together again. Reading about the struggle that they went through just to get their happily ever after was great fun and I knew they will get there. Susan Mallery has delivered a fun and exciting beginning to what I believe is going to be one great new series that everyone should watch out for this year.
