Today I will be reviewing Tawny Weber's May 2009 Harlequin Blaze release, which I got an ARC of, Going Down Hard. I was lucky enough to have Tawny get in touch with me for an author interview, author guest blog and two book reviews for her April 2009 and May 2009 Harlequin Blaze releases. The first guest blog for her April 2009 release, Coming on Strong, was posted in March and the second guest blog for her May 2009 release, Going Down Hard, was posted at the end of April. I have had the pleasure and honor of interviewing Tawny Weber here on my blog and she answered all the reader comments. I also posted my review for Coming on Strong for you to read because it is the first part and ends with the story in Going Down Hard, which I'm reviewing today. In the first book Coming on Strong we met Sierra and Reece but we didn't get to know them only got glimpses of their hot attraction to entice us into waiting for their own love story.
So in Going Down Hard, Sierra Donovan is flying high on her company’s rising success with her partner and best friend Belle. Her bonus for all of her success is...another sexy one-night-stand with cowboy Reece Carter–also known as the best sex she’s ever had. But when sick blackmail photos start to show up, (we got a little inside peek in the previous novel) fiercely self-reliant Sierra suddenly finds herself needing a 24-hour bodyguard. Now who better than cowboy turned security specialist Reece Carter to protect her because though Reece is tall, dark and dangerous…and he’s getting in Sierra’s take-charge way she knows he can keep her safe. But, oh god, can he make every single nerve ending on her body sizzle and Sierra soon realizes that coming home to great sex each night has its benefits. That is, as long as her bodyguard can keep her alive long enough to enjoy it which I think you may know that from his characteristics he would give his own life for hers if necessary.

Well it has taken me a while to get this novel read and reviewed because life got it the way for me but I have finally finished it. I have to say it wasn't exactly what I thought it would be like when I first read about it. I had a bit of trouble getting into it at first but after midway through the book I was excited to finally find out how things would end for Sierra and Reece. Sierra is a strong and independent woman who has a tough time getting close to the opposite sex especially Reece since she has a very strong sexual attraction that she doesn't want. Reece is a cowboy with military and security background that has not had any luck with the ladies since his horrible marriage to a woman who he thought he loved. Together they may seem like total opposites but that is just on the surface because deep down they are perfect for one another if they would only give themselves the chance to finally figure that out. I give this book 3 Open Books:

Tami Hoag was the first adult author that I read when I was in Junior High School. Her books were my first as a growing adolescent and the books that lead me to other authors that I called some of my favorites. The first book that I ever bought on my own was Guilty As Sin by Tami Hoag and I will always love that book. I have almost all of her books and they are mostly mystery books but she started out writing romance and lately she has been reissuing those books and I have bought them and loved them when I finished reading them. Rumor Has It is the first book in her Quaid Horses series and I will be reading and reviewing the next and last book in the series called, The Man of Her Dreams. Katie Quaid, the heroine, could never refuse a dare and that has been true throughout her life. It was the quality that had once made her a world-class equestrian and it was also the reason she’d been elected to introduce herself to Briarwood’s intimidating gorgeous new resident.
It took one week to make Nick Leone the focus of the Virginia town’s rumor mill and so far he was a CIA agent, a male model, a fugitive and maybe even all three. But whatever Nick was, Katie learned one thing right away was that she liked him and that made him the greatest danger she’d faced since the accident that had ended her riding career. In the five years since, she’d buried herself in her business of restoring historic homes because she's afraid to share her scars with any man. These scars had destroyed more than one of her dreams and it has kept her from ever really developing a real and lasting relationship with a man. Nick had disappointments of his own, but after meeting Katie, he sensed that fate had a better plan all along for them both. And soon he would pose her with the greatest dare of all...to love again because they both deserve to be happy.
I really love reading Tami Hoag's romance novels because they show me how different she writes her mystery novels after writing her romance novels in the beginning of her writing career. I really loved the cover of this book when I found it on the bookshelf at BN and after reading the blurb on the back cover I decided to give this novel a try since I loved reading her previous romance novels. Katie Quaid is such a strong heroine who has had her share of disappointments but she has tried to go on with her life as best as possible so I think that meeting Nick Leone was the best thing that could ever happen to her. Nick Leone is such a sexy, strong and amazing man who I really think could be just the man that Katie has been waiting for but didn't know it. I really thought it was so funny when I finally found out what Nick's previous job was before he moved to Briarwood because it was totally not what I thought it would be but it made the novel that much more interesting. I had fun reading this novel and I look forward to reading the next book in the series because it's about Katie's older brother and her best friend's budding relationship that we get an introduction to in this book. I give this book 3 Open Books:

This is my second book by the author Lauren Dane and my first book by the author Megan Hart who both wrote this book together. I was lucky enough to have one this ARC of Taking Care of Business and thought it would be a book that I would end up enjoying very much. I'm sorry to say that wasn't the case when I was about a quarter into the novel and started drifting from the novel since the plot was not really grabbing my attention any more. I did finish the novel and was satisfied with the ending but throughout the novel I had to stop because I couldn't keep my attention on the book. I thought the characters were intriguing enough when I started reading it but towards the middle of the novel I felt that there was more sex and not enough emotion to keep my interest anymore. Don't get me wrong I enough having my romance novels full of hot steamy sexy but there has to be some emotion in it mixed with some drama and intrigue as well. I was disappointed a bit that I wasn't getting it here even though I thought that it was going to be a good read. I enjoyed the characters Leah, Kate, Brandon and Charles a.k.a "Dix" because they are characters with personalities that captured me. That doesn't mean that for someone else it will be disappointing because everyone has a different taste in novels and it might be just the book for you. I am sad to say that I have to give this book 3 Open Books:
Here is the description of the book from the back cover and picture:

In M. Jean Pike's interview I mentioned that I would be reviewing her novel In the Shadow of a Dragonfly soon and today is that day. I've finished it and I have many mixed feelings about this novel and I don't know how to express it without giving away spoilers. I knew when I was asked to read and review this novel that it wasn't an actual romance novel but a literary love story and I have to say I can now see the difference between the two. At the begining I enjoyed the views of the main characters, Hope Hanwell and Gray Baldwin's, background lives before they met. It was a bit much for me that it would go back and forth between Hope's life and Gray's life with each chapter but it was interesting and I spent hours reading the first 5 chapters without stopping. I almost missed my doctors appointment because I was so captivated with the lives of Hope and Gray.
Then towards the middle when Hope and Gray finally met and got together is when things got really emotional for me that I actually cried and that is something I don't at all unless I'm emotionally stressed. I don't like to cry because it makes me feel bad and not good at all but it is sometimes good to have a good cry. I was so upset with Hope and Gray because I wanted them to be happy but they have so much against them because they are complete opposites and sometimes I had a hard time understanding how they could have fallen in love. I finished this eBook version of the novel in less than two days and I enjoyed it very much expect for the parts that made me cry but that is just me because I hate crying. I thought the ending was very good but it also made me wonder what would happen next with Gray and the rest of the family because there were some issues that I would love to find out how they were resolved. Overall I am glad I got the chance to review this novel and I recommend it to all who love a good heartbreaking love story to read. Here is the description of the book from her website and picture:
In the Shadow of a Dragonfly (284 Pages)($ 8.00 eBook PDF format and $18.95 paperback)

Alison Kent had 19 ARC of her Kensington December release Maximum Exposure that she was giving out to readers who would review them before December so other readers could read the reviews before the book comes out. I was one of those lucky readers who received a copy to read and review before it was released. I was very intrigued with the blurb of the book when I first heard about the ARC giveaway so I was really excited about reading the book. When I started reading the novel it wasn't exactly what I was expecting because the heroine, Olivia Hammond, isn't the kind of character that I was expecting and she is someone I really had trouble understand as I continued to read the novel. I loved the hero, Finn MacLaine, though very much and he seemed like a very understandable charcter that was sexy and very into the heroine Olivia.
For some reason I had some trouble really getting into this novel from the beginning and I guess some of it has to do with me not really relating the heroine Olivia that much and also I was trying to catch up with all the things going on in the novel. It felt like it was two novels in one where it was about the hero, Finn, and the heroine, Olivia but also with the two important secondary characters Roman/Roland and Jodi. I had to set down this book more than once in order to get my thought in order about what was going on in the novel. I did think of putting it aside and reading something else but I knew that this book was a very good read because I liked the complex characters and all the sexual tension between Olivia and Finn and also between Roman and Jodi.
But all this changed after it got to a very interesting part in the middle of the book which I won't mention because it would totally be a spoiler for anyone who hasn't read it. I will say that it was the part that had me totally captive and now I couldn't put the book down because I wanted to see how the entire story ends. Overall I can honestly say I was glad that I had the opportunity of reading and reviewing Alison Kent's ARC of Maximum Exposure because even though I had a hard time with the beginning by the middle of the novel I couldn't wait to find out the characters Happily Ever After. Here is the description of the book from the back cover and picture:
MAXIMUM EXPOSURE $ 14.00 (288 Pages)
Finn McLain is no stranger to unusual assignments. But the gorgeous stranger who just asked him to photograph her for an erotic art exhibit—that’s definitely a first. Finn came to Miami to dig into the personal life of boutique manager Roland Green for a lovesick gallery owner, and hadn’t planned on sticking around. But the boutique’s owner, Olivia Hammond, has just made him a proposal that’s as hard to ignore as Olivia herself. She’s got caramel-kissed skin, a body that makes grown men tremble, and a wild sideline as an exhibitionist. Ooookay. Yet despite her willingness to “let people look,” Finn’s convinced there’s a hell of a lot Olivia’s not revealing. And that’s the most intriguing prospect of all… Olivia has never been shy about using her sexuality to get what she wants. But then, she’s never wanted a man quite the way she wants Finn. What he thinks about her shouldn’t matter, yet it does. Through every candid photograph and every heated encounter, Finn is getting closer, intent on getting beneath her shell—and for once, Olivia is tempted to let him. But first they have to contend with the fact that Finn’s simple investigation into Roland Green is getting dangerously complicated…and Olivia isn’t the only person in town who’s not what she claims to be.
In a city throbbing with sex appeal, two wary lovers are about to play the ultimate game of show and tell, where temptation is raw, wild, and hot enough to make you sizzle…

Well you remember that I had Shelley Munro guest blog a couple of days ago. Well Shelley was nice enough to give me a copy of her recent release Price of Love. I told her that I would love to read it and post my review of it here as soon as possible. Well I just have to say that I'm glad Shelley gave me this copy because I devoured it in a few hours and I loved it! I love paranormals and this one is about shifters which is also one of my favorites. This is the second eBook that I've read so far and I'm starting to understand what the appeal of reading eBooks is about. I thought that it was a good quick read about a Tiger shifter named Kersen Amat who wants leopard Jarita Namar.
I thought that it was cute that Kersen and Jarita both wanted each other but were clueless that the other wanted the other. This eBook paranormal is very different from other paranormals that I've read but the plot kept me reading until I finished. I couldn't get enough of the sexual tension between Kersen and Jarita and I thought that they are good mates because they both are too strong willed to let the other dominate them. I don't like to give too much from the book because not everyone has read the book yet but I can say that if you like paranormal/shifter novels than this is the eBook for you. Here is the description of the eBook from Shelley's website and picture:
Price of Love by Shelley Munro $ 2.99 (56 Pages)
Tiger Kersen Amat wants to marry leopard Jarita Namar. All he needs to do is find rubies for the bride price and woo the sexy shifter. Unknown to him Jarita is already interested. When they meet in the Burmese jungle sparks fly, along with love and laughter. Mutual pleasure explodes, sweet, erotic and compelling, until thieves intent on stealing rubies intrude. A disaster since without the rubies there’s no bride price and their courtship will be doomed. Obtaining Jarita, a jewel beyond price, as his mate might take more than rubies and seduction…
