I love Brenda Joyce's books and this is one of her series that I stumbled upon when I was at Barnes & Nobles looking for new books to buy. The first book that I ever bought of Brenda Joyce was The Conqueror the first book in the de Warenne Dynasty series. I loved it so much that when I found out that there were more books of the delightful de Warenne family I just had to buy them. I loved reading all about the books of the beginning of the de Warenne family that started in 1069 and continued on to the present year in the series of the mid 1800. I have to say that I was very intrigued with this novel when I read it because it had some very intriguing characters that contect with the current de Warenne and O'Neil family. Brenda Joyce is such a talented writer and I have been a loyal fan since I found this novel at the bookstore and I've bought as many of her books as possible. I love historical romances and I've read all types of them so it was a joy to read this novel for the first time. Torn from his Romany mother’s arms as a small boy, Viscount Emilian St. Xavier has spent a lifetime ignoring the whispers of gypsy that follows him everywhere. A nobleman with wealth, power and privilege, he does not care what the gadjos think. But when the Romany come to Derbyshire with news of his mother’s murder at the hands of a mob, his world implodes. And Ariella de Warenne is the perfect object for his lust and revenge. Ariella de Warenne’s heritage assures her a place in proper society, though as a radical and independent thinker she scorns her peers’ frivolous pursuits in the Ton, fashion and marriage. Until a Roma camp arrives at Rose Hill, and she finds herself drawn to their charismatic leader, Emilian. Even when he warns her away, threatening that he intends to seduce and destroy her, she cannot refuse him. For Ariella is just as determined to fight for their dangerous love.
I loved reading this novel because it is about the descendents of Rolfe and Ceidre de Warenne from the book The Conqueror. Ariella and Emilian have many issues in this novel that they have to get through in order to finally get together which is wonderful to read because Ariella and Emilian are such passionate characters. Again there is a the theme of fueding race in this novel that I've loved reading in the first three novels of this series centuries before. Now the English and the Gypsy are like mortal enemies but luckily not all of the English and Gypsy hate one another but there is bad blood between these two people. It is also what keeps the hero Emilian from truly accepting his love for the heroine Ariella and it was one emotional bump after another in their journey of love. I could hardly put the book down because it had me captivated from the first page with Emilian's very hard past experience with the English people such as his father and his family members.
Throughout the entire novel I was rooting for Ariella and Emilian to end happily with one another because they had to struggle through many heartaches to be with one another. I haven't been disappointed by any of her novels in this series or any of her other works and I don't think I ever will because they only get better with each book that comes out. I'm very anxious for the next book to come out in this wonderful series because there are a lot of characters in this novel that I really want to know more about especially the complicated marriage of Ariella's half-brother Alexi. Here is the description of the book from the back cover and picture:

A childhood trauma has left Lady Blanche Harrington incapable of all emotion, least of all love. Now circumstance demands she marry, and Blanch dreads choosing from her horde of fawning suitors. For one very eligible gentleman has not stepped forward. A war hero and a recluse, Rex de Warenne has long admired Lady Blanche. Though fate and his own dark nature have robbed him of any hope for a kind of future such a lady deserves, Rex is determined to aid her—and keep his feeling to himself. But when their growing friendship leads to a night of shocking passion, Blanche’s newfound memories threaten their fragile love…and Blanche’s very life.

Blanche and Rex have many issues in this novel that they have to get through in order to finally get together which is wonderful to read because Blanche and Rex are such passionate characters. This novel was alright to read but I wasn't very happy with the heroine Blanche because she wasn't much of a passionate heroine character like the other heroine's in the previous novels. But I liked readint the interaction between Rex and Blanche because those were the times where Blanche started to show the passion that was hidden within her. Both Rex and Blanche had similar things that they had to go through that lead them to be the person that they became but it also made them such a perfect couple together. Throughout the entire novel I was rooting for Blanche and Rex to end happily with one another because they had to struggle through many heartaches to be with one another. Raised as a pirate’s daughter, Amanda Carre has not been tutored in the finer social graces. Alone in the world, she has never depended on anyone, until fate intervenes when Cliff de Warenne rescues her from a mob at her father’s hanging. Now she must set sail for England to find the mother she never knew, and her chaperone is an infamous ladies’ man. The greatest gentleman privateer of his era, Cliff knows honor demands that he see this beautiful wild child to London and into her socialite mother’s arms. He’s aware that Amanda is utterly unprepared for a debut in London’s ton, so his only recourse is to become her guardian and champion her transformation into a lady—and finds her a suitable match. But with every passing moment it becomes harder to deny his jealousy and ire—until Amanda makes her stunning debut, a lady at last. And when his passion is finally released, their love can no longer be denied.
I loved reading this novel because it is about the descendents of Rolfe and Ceidre de Warenne from the book The Conqueror. Amanda and Cliff have many issues in this novel that they have to get through in order to finally get together which is wonderful to read because Amanda and Cliff are such passionate characters. I loved reading this novel very much because the heroine Amanda is such a striking character that has been raised up wildy surrounded by rough and hard pirates who used adult language that no child should hear. Cliff is the type of man that Amanda needs because they both love the sea so much and they have similar qualities that they may never have found until they met. I loved this novel so much more because of Cliff's two illegitimate children Alexi and Ariella because they made the novel very interesting to read. The story behind their births and how Cliff came to raising them is so much apart of Cliff's character that it made the novel so much enjoyable to read. Throughout the entire novel I was rooting for Amanda and Cliff to end happily with one another because they had to struggle through many heartaches to be with one another. I love historical romances and I've read all types of them so it was a joy to read this novel for the first time. Sean O’Neill was once everything to Eleanor de Warenne—but since he disappeared from his ancestral home, there has been no word, and even Eleanor has abandoned hope, promising her hand to another. Then, just days before her wedding, Sean reappears…but the boy who was once her protector is now a stranger, hardened by prison and on the run. Weary and haunted, Sean is shocked to find that little Elle has become the beautiful, desirable Eleanor. Though he refuses to endanger her by pressing his claim, his resolve to stay away is sorely tested by the determination of a woman who will not be forsaken again. And when, in a moment’s passion, Sean steals another man’s bride, it is Eleanor who has the power to steal his heart.
I loved reading this novel because it is about the descendents of Rolfe and Ceidre de Warenne from the book The Conqueror and the descendents of Liam and Katherine O'Neil from the book The Game. It was also enjoyable because we read about the decendents of the de Warenne and O'Neil family again after centuries. Elle and Sean have many issues in this novel that they have to get through in order to finally get together which is wonderful to read because Elle and Sean are such passionate characters. I like novels where there is some interesting history between the hero, Sean, and heroine, Elle, because it is background into their lives when they were younger and seeing how they changed into the adults they are in the present. Especially because Elle and Sean are step-brother and step-sister who didn't exactly hit if off when they first met since Elle was only a small toddler at the time. Throughout the entire novel I was rooting for Elle and Sean to end happily with one another because they had to struggle through many heartaches to be with one another. On the evening of her first masquerade, shy Elizabeth Anne Fitzgerald is stunned by Tyrell de Warenne’s whispered suggestion of midnight rendezvous in the gardens. Lizzie has secretly worshiped the unattainable lord for years. When fortune takes a maddening turn, she is prevented from meeting Tyrell. But Lizzie cannot foresee that that night is only the beginning. Tyrell de Warenne is shocked when, two years later, Lizzie arrives on his doorstep with a child she claims is his. He remembers her will—and knows that he could not possibly the father. What is this game she is playing…and why? Is Elizabeth Anne Fitzgerald a woman of experience, of the gentle innocent she seems? But neither scandal, deception nor pride can thwart a love too passionate to be denied.

A clever player both at the court and in the bedchamber, he is determined to win the willful Katherine while advancing his own secret causes. But now he must risk everything he cherishes in order to triumph at a very treacherous game through heartbreaking deception…and by breaking all the rules.
I loved reading this novel because pirates are so exciting to read about especially since this is an Irish pirate we are talking about. I love the Irish ever since I read my first romance novel by Nora Roberts called Three Fates, which was about three Irish siblings. In this novel I'm excited to finally get to met the couple who are the ancestors of the present O'Neil's which start in the next book The Prize. Liam and Katherine have many issues in this novel that they have to get through in order to finally get together which is wonderful to read because Liam and Katherine are such passionate characters. Brenda Joyce is such a talented writer and I have been a loyal fan since I found this novel at the bookstore and I've bought as many of her books as possible.
I love historical romances and I've read all types of them so it was a joy to read this novel for the first time. She is Mary, the beautiful daughter of the Scottish King—and an unwilling prisoner of the Norman invaders. The headstrong princess refuses to reveal her identity—even if it means sacrificing her virtue, but in the arms of a dangerous enemy she discovers a powerful passion and a powerful promise. Brave and battle-hardened Stephen de Warenne is prepared to defend to the death that which is his by right of conquest—including the golden-haired captive who awakens his soul’s most secret yearnings. For theirs is a passion that will not be denied—a magnificent fire that burns hotter and brighter than the blazing flames of war that engulf the land.
I loved reading this novel so much because it has so much drama and conflict between the hero, Stephen, and heroine, Mary, that you can see their passionate love for one another before the characters themselves know it. This reminded me a bit about Stephen's parents Rolfe and Ceidre's love story because they were both on different sides of a racial war and Mary's Scottish family hated the English. It was a bit nostalgic when I was reading it but it was also as or at times more passionate at times between Stephen and Mary because they are at a different time period then Rolfe and Ceidre. Throughout the entire novel I was rooting for Mary and Stephen to end happily with one another because they had to struggle through many heartaches to be with one another. I haven't been disappointed by any of her novels in this series or any of her other works and I don't think I ever will because they only get better with each book that comes out. Like a pagan god, Rolfe the Relentless rode into Castle Aelfgar to claim it as his prize—and Lady Alice as his bride. Rolfe de Warenne is lauded for his bravery in France and in England he was the hated enemy but once ensconced in his new domain, Rolfe became determined to tame the Saxon beauty Ceidre, Alice’s illegitimate sister, whose spirit and sensuality made him risk treason to have her—not Lady Alice—in his bed. Mysterious and seductive, Ceidre was no lady but a spy for the rebel cause of her noble half brothers and she is always refusing to bow to this arrogant warrior who ignited her forbidden passion. She was swept into a dangerous liaison tied to the fate of England and kings and yet with his kisses on her lips, his skillful hands on her body, she would have to struggle not to surrender to.
There were times in this novel where I would have loved to kill Ceidre's half-sister Lady Alice because she was so evil to Ceidre even though Ceidre was always kind to her. Rolfe and Ceidre had their issues because their people were mortal enemies but they got through all that ingrained hatred and fell in love with one another. Throughout the entire novel I was rooting for Rolfe and Ceidre to end happily with one another because they had to struggle through many heartaches to be with one another and the children they had together before they could legitimize them with marriage. I haven't been disappointed by any of her novels in this series or any of her other works and I don't think I ever will because they only get better with each book that comes out.
