It's been a while since I've done a written interview but I happy to have paranormal and urban fantasy romance author Ashlynn Monroe who I've met online through the wonderful online publisher Wild Horse Press. She contacted me about reviewing a few of her recently published eBooks as well as interviewing her on my review blog, and then J.M. at Wild Horse Press contacted me about reviewing Ashlynn's debut novel, Hidden Magic. And don't forget that on Thursday, July 29th I will be chatting live with Linda on my live podcast show TAMFA—Phoebe Jordan about her paranormal and urban fantasy novels and also she will be guest blogging about her current release here on the review blog. Now onto my interview with Ashlynn:

Phoebe Jordan: When did you know that writing romance was going to be the thing that you would do with your life? Which author inspired you to start writing romance?

Ashlynn Monroe: I started writing when I was thirteen. My cousins encouraged me (even if that first novel was awful) and I kept writing. I’ve written stories as a hobby since that time. When I turned thirty, I made a promise to myself actually to submit some of the stories for publication. Wild Horse Press was the first publisher that contacted me. Since February of this year, I’ve been writing like crazy and I’m currently contacted with six publishers and one magazine. My paternal grandmother gave me garbage bags full of romance novels in the summer and that was the root of my love for romance. I was reading them long before I should’ve.

Phoebe: Did you know what type of romance you wanted to write about or did you experiment with different genres before you chose the one that you felt was for you?

Ashlynn: I am not genre bias…I write everything! I have contracts out there for urban fantasy, dark romance, paranormal romance, science fiction romance, and contemporary romance. I even have a steam punk romance that is currently looking for a home.

Phoebe: What was the first fiction you ever wrote? And do you still have it with you?

Ashlynn: I sadly did not keep my first novel it was titled Arianna’s Circle and sadly, I can describe it as the blue lagoon meets star wars. My cousin drew me a cover for it for my fourteenth birthday, and I still have her lovely framed art, but I actually threw out all my teenage work about five years ago during some frantic spring-cleaning when I was pregnant with my youngest child.

Phoebe: How much research do you have to do for your novels and does it take you a long time to gather that research?

Ashlynn: It depends on the novel. I research places, if I’m writing about states or cities that I’ve never been to. I did a lot of research for my Templar vampire series, contracted by Keith Publications. I have a steam punk romance that is looking for a home. My steam punk romance as it takes place during the civil war. I also researched into the workings of steam engines and double-checked my historical facts about the civil war.

I do love paranormal romances very much because the authors create this totally different world that is similar to our own world. But these worlds these authors create are filled with all these paranormal creatures that we only think is myth but are totally real in paranormal romances. I know that author Jessica Coulter Smith loves to read paranormal romances so when she writes paranormal romances are what she ends up creating. I had the pleasure of hosting her guest blog about her release Moonlight Protector, which is the first book of her paranormal Ashton Grove Werewolves series and I also reviewed it as well. I also had the pleasure of interviewing her as well if you want to find out more about Jessica's writing and about some of her hobbies and favorite authors. I reviewed her second and third book in her series fabulous series called Moonlight Hero and Moonlight Guardian for both Jessica and her publisher Wild Horse Press and what a nice read that was for me. I also had the pleasure of reviewing the sort of prequel to her Ashton Grove Werewolves series that was previously published by another online publisher but was re-issued with Wild Horse Press called, Whispering Lake.

Well today I'm reviewing Jessica's May 25th release novel, Moonlight Champion, the fourth book in her Ashton Grove Werewolves series, which I was lucky enough to receive an advanced review copy from Wild Horse Press a few days ago. I love Jessica's novels and was happy that they sent me a copy to review because I've read the blurb for this novel a while back before it was given an official released date on Jessica's website. Since reading the first book in her wonderfully written Ashton Grove Werewolves series I have been anxiously waiting for the next book in the series to be published as soon as possible because I am officially addicted! Now we all have read about the three Andrews brothers, Cole, Gabriel and Michael finding their mates and having their happily ever after though they had some trouble along the way. But now it's their cousin Conner Tierney's turn to find his mate and have his happily ever after.

I have read a couple of ebooks published by Wild Horse Press which include ebooks by Jessica Coulter Smith, Linda Palmer, Paige WarrenT.L. MitchellJ. L. Oiler and Julie Kimbrell. Today I will be reviewing Jessie Colter's debut paranormal young adult called, Heart's Desire, which I was happy to get a copy to review. The hero of the novel, Morgan Raines, transferred to a new high school his senior year and starting over doesn't bother him, but finding his mate pinned to her locker by her Neanderthal ex-boyfriend does. From day one, Morgan and Skye are inseperable, despite the fact her ex keeps getting in the way of there budding relationship. But will Skye's feelings change when she realizes he turns into a panther every time the moon is full? Or can true love conquer all? I certainly think that true love conquer's all since it is a beautiful thing that everyone strives to one day discover. I love paranormal young adult novels and I had such fun reading it that I seriously was dreading finishing this novel since I didn't want it to end. Jessie Colter delivers a wonderfully suspenseful and exciting young adult debut novel about a young woman who finds her true love is a shapeshifting panther that would do anything for her. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for all of Jessie's future young adult novels since she has hooked me to her writing from reading the first page of her debut novel until the very end. I give this book 4.5 Open Books:

I have read a couple of ebooks published by Wild Horse Press which include ebooks by Jessica Coulter Smith, Linda Palmer, Paige WarrenT.L. MitchellJ. L. Oiler and Julie Kimbrell. Today I will be reviewing Jessica Coulter Smith's fantasy/sci-fi erotic romance short story called, A Slave to Her Passion, which is the first book of her A Tale of Shar series and I was happy to get a copy to review. The heroine of the novel, Alyson, has been abducted and taken the the land of Shar, a realm that is run by a wicked vampire and is filled with demons and fallen angels. Resigned to her fate as a slave in this new realm but things begin to look up when the mysterious Adam buys her from Lars who is very hard on his slaves. The sexy fallen angel plans on sharing her with his best friend—but after a night of passion, he may just change his mind about sharing. Alyson begins to wonder if its possible to fall in love with the man who owns you and she also begins to wonder if she's still a slave? Or just a slave to her passions? This novel is very different from the other novels I've read by Jessica and I loved it! I think she wrote it beautifully and it was definitely hot and steamy which made me want it to never end especially since I thought the angels were gorgeous in this novel. Jessica Coulter Smith delivers a wonderfully erotic and passion filled novel about a woman who gets kidnapped and taken to another realm to be a sex slave. I will be keeping an eye out for the future books in the A Tale of Shar series since I know this novel is just the beginning for Alyson and Adam. I give this book 4.5 Open Books:

I have read a couple of ebooks published by Wild Horse Press which include ebooks by Jessica Coulter Smith, Linda Palmer, Paige WarrenT.L. MitchellJ. L. Oiler and Julie Kimbrell. Today I will be reviewing Alexis Devuall's debut contemporary erotic romance short story called, All Tied Up, which I was happy to get a copy to review. The heroine of the novel, Anna Dumont has had it with loser boyfriends which any woman out there can relate to in one way or another. So when her friend Todd issues a challenge for her to visit The Crystal Palace, and she accepts with a bit of doubt. Little does she realize she's about to meet an amazing man and have a sexual adventure unlike anything she could have anticipated. I had fun reading this novel because it was a very hot and steamy story about a woman who finds that she needs to change the way she is living her life. I found that it was fun as well as erotic which is a nice combination when reading a short story and it left me wanting to find out if Alexis would end up writing more about Anna and the other characters that I came to enjoy in this novel. Alexis Duvall delivers a wonderfully erotic and exciting debut novel about a woman who after dating loser boyfriends finds a way to break out the wild woman that was inside her all along. I will be keeping an eye out for any of Alexis's future books because after reading this debut novel I have a feeling her future books will be just as good or even better. I give this book 4 Open Books:

I have read a couple of ebooks published by Wild Horse Press which include ebooks by Jessica Coulter Smith, Linda Palmer, Paige Warren and T.L. Mitchell. Today I will be reviewing Julie Kimbrell's debut contemporary romance called, Mr. Irresistible, which I was happy to get a copy to review. The heroine of the novel, Kate Simon, hasn't met the right man, but she's happy with her life regardless. But one look at the hero, Gage Morgan, and she wonders if maybe she's missing out on something after all. He makes her heart race, her palms sweat, and leaves her body yearning for his touch which is something she has felt for any man before. While he may be irresistible, Kate isn't sure he's quite right for her and it has her running scared from this attraction that she can't seem to get rid of. Gabe manages a bar and rides a Harley which leaves her wondering how could he possibly be more different than her? And yet, every time they're apart, she can't wait until the moment she can see him again. I had fun reading this novel since it was obvious from the beginning that Kate and Gabe would have a bumpy round ahead of them. I thought it was funny how both of them were trying to fight the attraction that they instantly had for each other as soon as they met because I had that feeling that no matter how hard they try they would fall in love. Julie Kimbrell delivers a wonderfully exciting debut novel about two people who have been burned by love before and have been brought to get together to find a long lasting love together. I give this book 4 Open Books:

I have read a couple of ebooks published by Wild Horse Press which include ebooks by Jessica Coulter Smith, Linda Palmer, Paige Warren and T.L. Mitchell. So when Wild Horse Press contacted me to inquire if I accepted review requests from publishers and asked me if I would like to review Karoline Barrett's debut paranormal short story called, Between Here & Ever After and I accepted. I love their website because it is so clean and easy to find everything you would like to know about their authors, books and submission guidelines and more. I might really consider submitting my manuscript to them if I ever get it finished and editing enough to fit their requirements for submission. Today I will be reviewing Karoline's paranormal short story called, Between Here & Ever After, which I was happy to get a copy to review. The heroine of the novel, Madelyn Douglas, is killed in a freak accident and when her spirit rises from her body she is given a task to complete before she can move on. She must save her ex-fiance, Brian Rossi, from a fate living in the bad side instead of the good side in the ever after. Thinking Brian is mixed up with the mob, Maddie does her best to convince him to walk the straight and narrow but somewhere along the way she falls in love with him again. Is it possible for a ghost to have a happy-ever-after? I sure think so since Maddie and Brian seem to have a connection with one another that is strong even after so many years of being apart. I haven't read a good ghost romance in a long time and though this is a short story, which I seem to have a love and hate relationship with, I had a great time reading it. Karoline Barrett delivers a wonderfully exciting debut novel about two long lost lovers who get a second chance to be with one another with a twist since the heroine is a ghost and the hero is alive with suspicion of being connected to the mob. If you know me then you know that I really can't help but grab as many of Jessica Coulter Smith's books as I possibly can because she is such a talented author who always seems to grab my attention. Though she can frustrate me sometimes with her books but in a good way since they keep me on my toes wondering what's going to happen next. Today I will be reviewing Jessica's first contemporary erotic short story called, Christmas Wishes Come True, which I was really excited to get a copy to review. The heroine of the novel, Elise, doesn't feel like celebrating Christmas this year since a divorce has left her feeling more like Scrooge than Santa. But will the handsome, charismatic Nathan be able to change her mind? He may be just the present she needs this year and that I completely agree with that. I haven't read a good christmas romance in a long time and though this is a short story, which I seem to have a love and hate relationship with, I had a great time reading it. Elise and Nathan seem to have an instant attraction to one another from the first time they meet and that is only the start to what will be a beautiful lasting relationship. Though that relationship will have a rough start since Elise is just getting out of a marriage where she caught her ex-husband having sex with a woman in their own bed. So Elise has trust issues that will really affect her budding relationship with Nathan even though she is coming to really love him like she never loved her ex-husband. All in all I enjoyed reading this novel though I wish it were a bit longer since I would love to get a longer story between Elise and Nathan. I give this book 4 Open Books:

Wild Horse Press
I recently was introduced to T.L. Mitchell who is a new paranormal romance author who got her debut novel published by Wild Horse Press. I had the pleasure of reviewing her paranormal romance novel, Dark of kNight, which is the first book of her Dark of kNight series that was previously self-published with AuthorHouse but was re-released in a second edition in e-book format with Wild Horse Press. I am also happy to announce that I will soon be interviewing T.L. Mitchell live on my podcast show on Friday, January 15th at 6PM to 7:30PM EST (5PM to 6:30PM CST / 3PM to 4:30PM PST). We will be chatting about her Dark of kNight series as well as her future books that will be published in 2010 which are, Fall of kNight (Book 2) and Dawn of kNight (Book 3). I also had the pleasure of reading and reviewing an advanced readers copy of Blood Dance (Book 1 of Seeds of Oden series) which is the debut novel of J.L. Oiler and won't be out until Tuesday, January 26th. I hope to also get to read her upcoming novels in her Seeds of Oden series that will be published sometime in 2010. I have read a couple of ebooks published by Wild Horse Press which include ebooks by Jessica Coulter Smith, Linda Palmer, Paige Warren and T.L. Mitchell. So when Wild Horse Press contacted me to inquire if I accepted review requests from publishers and asked me if I would like to review an ARC of J.L. I love their website because it is so clean and easy to find everything you would like to know about their authors, books and submission guidelines and more. I might really consider submitting my manuscript to them if I ever get it finished and editing enough to fit their requirements for submission. Well onto the book review for J.L. Oiler's debut novel, Blood Dance, that I will say right off I really enjoyed reading and I would love to read the next book in the series. This book isn't to be released until Tuesday, January 26th, 2010 so if you want to read the book as soon as you read this review you are going to have to wait a couple of weeks but it will be worth the wait I tell you. The Crimson Erotica is Pittsburgh’s hottest night club and even in the middle of the week patron clamor to get through the door so that they could party until they dropped from having a good time. But no one who entered the club would ever imagine it is something far different or that the shapely dancer who owns the club with her two sisters is far from an ordinary human.
Named for the god of war, Ares has always lived up to the reputation of the name her father gave her though she had her soft spot of her younger sisters. Born to be the bloodmate of Kaden, one of the leaders of an ancient race of vampire’s who have sworn to protect mankind from their predatory counterparts, she is torn between her promise to reunite her younger siblings and her desire for the one man who makes her pulse race. Can she surrender to her destiny and help protect mankind from the evil that stalks them or will she just continue to sway in the denial on the Blood Dance? I think that Ares will surrender to her destiny and help protect mankind from the evil that stalks them with her bloodmate Kaden because she has lived too long without the passionate love that they instantly share. It was so much fun getting to know more about the Seeds of Oden in this first book of the series because I enjoyed reading more about this world filled with good and bad vampires with the mix of 12 female bloodmates that are part-human. Ares and Kaden have got some issues that they may have to work out with their new bloodmate relationship since she has always been with the one mindset of reunited her younger siblings. I think they will make it and I hope to read more about their growing relationship in any of the future books of this series. J.L. Oiler delivers a steamy and thrilling debut paranormal romance novel as well as a wonderful start to a gripping new series that will have to anxious to get your hands on the next book. I am hooked and I can't wait to get my hands on J.L's next book, Blood Dawn, of her Seeds of Oden series which is going to be out in Summer of 2010 if all goes accordingly. Well onto the book review for T.L. Mitchell's debut novel, Dark of kNight, that I will say right off I really enjoyed reading and I would love to read the next book in the series. The heroine of the novel and series is Julie Knight and she never really knew how much her life would change after the death of her beloved father. So after returning home to Spring Place, GA, the mysterious animal attacks begin that start to change her world in ways that she never knew possible. The small town is in an uproar over the horrific killings and that is when Julie finds herself in danger when the truth of who she is has finally been revealed to her. The last of a thousand year old bloodline of Lycans, Guardians of the mysterious Fort Mountain is all depending on her and her mate to continue the line or it would be the end for the Lycans. Now the hero of the novel and series is Daniel Maxwell, the handsome, dark, yet mysterious scientist returns home for the funeral and he has definitely has changed, but his love for Julie remains the same. She is what he has always wanted, has always been what he needs in his life though he has never said anything about it to Julie. Daniel would die for her and he would kill for her because that is how passionate and true his love for her is.
The passions begin to flare and so does the romance between Julie and Daniel though it seems like it is going to fast they don't know or want it to stop. Joining forces with a mysterious group of moon-eyed people, together they must prepare for the ultimate battle—the battle against a deadly pack of werewolves. Can Julie and Daniel's love be strong enough to protect them from their dangerous desires? Or will they be forever lost in the Dark of kNight? Well I think that Julie and Daniel's love is strong enough to protect them from their dangerous desires because they have the determination to live and love one another that being lost in the dark of kNight is not an option for them. It took reading the first two chapters to hook me into the plot of the novel and not let me go even after I had finished the novel to the start of what I can tell will be an intriguing and suspenseful series. T.L. Mitchell delivers an exciting and suspenseful debut paranormal romance novel that will captivate you from the start and will have you wondering what would happen next for Julie and Daniel as well as the rest of the wonderfully written secondary characters. After reading this novel I was sad that the novel had to end but was excited that Julie and Daniel with the rest of the secondary characters would be coming back for another round in the second novel, Fall of kNight, in her Dark of kNight series. This is a series that I will definitely be keeping an eye out for because it has everything I need in a series, wonderful primary and secondary characters that capture my interest from the start, a suspenseful and exciting plot that has me wanting more and definitely the paranormal element that takes me out of my everyday life. Linda Palmer is a former Silhouette romance author now a young adult author that I recently discovered but one that I will definitely be keeping an eye out for in the future after reading her paranormal young adult novel, The Cinderella Swap, which she contacted me to review for her. I also had the pleasure of getting to review her current released paranormal young adult novel, Jaguar Moon, from one of my favorite e-publishers Wild Horse Press as well as Linda's upcoming February 2010 young adult release, Operation Normal, that I was so excited to get the honor of reviewing an ARC since I was totally needing my Linda Palmer Young adult fix since first starting reading her novels. Now today I'm reviewing another ARC of Linda's upcoming December 2009 release called, Storm Swept, from yet again one of my favorite e-publishers Wild Horse Press. I was so happy to get an ARC of this novel because I fell in love with Linda Palmer's first young adult novel, The Cinderella Swap, that I knew this upcoming novel will be just as great a read with some new characters to fall in love with. I've only recently gotten into reading young adult romance novels and since then I've been hunting up as many young adult romance authors I could find to read. I was very intrigued when I read the blurb for this novel and the cover was also really beautiful that I had to read it.
I was so excited when I started reading this novel and I have to say that it actually took me about a couple of days to finish up this novel though her previous YA novels I gobbled up in a few hours. Well the novel starts when the heroine, Jenny Jefferson, agrees to help her sister open a B&B but she doesn't know that Jase Edwards will be working there, too. Jenny and Jase have history—an angry encounter at her sister's wedding four years ago. This time around their chemistry is as intense and supercharged as the lightning snaking down from the storm clouds overhead. Not even a mischievous house ghost can distract them from each other. But something far more sinister lurks in the shadows, and its eye is on Jenny. Can she and Jase unravel the mystery of the house's tragic past before history repeats itself? So this novel wasn't exactly what I was expecting when I read the blurb because I sometimes had a bit of trouble understanding what was going on with Jenny and Jase as well as their mysterious haunting ghost. It took me a while to really get into the story which is completely different from Linda's other novels which just sucked me in from the very beginning.
I loved the characters Jenny and Jase as well as Jenny's older pregnant sister but what kept throwing me off the story was the haunting ghost in the B&B that kept attacking Jenny. I was really not sure what to think of who the hell that ghost is and why it was only attacking Jenny and not her pregnant sister or even Jase. Other than that I loved the way Jenny and Jase really started to get to know each other better though they had a very bad first impression of each other from their sister and brother's wedding celebration. Jenny and Jase are wonderful characters that after some time together can see that they are both really good and caring people who love their family very much. They also have some very intense chemistry going on between them that I sometimes could see the words sizzling while I was reading though they stayed true to their vows of not persuing a phyiscal relationship with one another until they knew each other full in a month or so. I am still so happy that I was lucky enough to get an ARC of Storm Swept even though it took me a while for me to really love reading it. I was a bit sad that it had to come to an end though it was a satisfying end that may have potentional of giving us a follow up story for Jenny and Jase if Linda ever decided to write more on them and their families. Linda Palmer delivers yet another exciting and wonderfully written young adult with suspense, romance and a bit of paranormal elements to have you questioning who the haunting ghost of the B&B is and why is it after Jenny and not any of the other characters. I reviewed her second book in her series fabulous series called Moonlight Hero for both Jessica and her publisher Wild Horse Press and what a nice read that was for me. I also had the pleasure of reviewing the sort of prequel to her Ashton Grove Werewolves series that was previously published by another online publisher but was re-issued with Wild Horse Press called, Whispering Lake.

Well today I'm reviewing Jessica's just released novel, Moonlight Guardian, the third book in her Ashton Grove Werewolves series, which I was lucky enough to receive an review copy from Wild Horse Press a few days ago. Now we all have read about the first two Andrews brothers, Cole and Gabriel, finding their mates and having their happily ever after though they had some trouble along the way. But now it's the youngest brother to find his mate and finally settle down to start a family which is what we all wish for him. Michael Andrews is the last of his brothers to find his mate and he's played it tough, trying to convince his family that a mate is the last thing he wants, that he enjoys having a different woman every week. In reality, he's afraid and he wants to find his mate though he thinks he may already have, but what if he's not a good husband? Maybe he just isn't made to love someone like his abusive father who he felt never really cared about his mother and his brothers.

Chloe Stevens is on her last leg and she found a guy she thought was great, only to end up pregnant and have the guy vanish into thin air after he got what he wanted from her. Then she lost her job and consequently, her car which just gets worse because now she's facing an eviction from her apartment. So she's five months pregnant with no job, no car, and now no home which forced Chloe to do the one thing she swore she wouldn't...contact the father of her baby. She may have just been a fling to Michael, but their few days together had meant more to her than it must have for Michael. When a pregnant Chloe shows up looking for Michael, he's stunned to find out that he's going to be a father and it appears that fate is determined to put the woman in his path. While he's thought of her often over the past several months, he's done his best to stay away. What on earth does he have to offer her or the baby she's carrying? A baby on the way changes everything...whether Chloe likes it or not, she's stuck with Michael from here on out. Now he just has to convince her to marry him which is going to be a bit tough when Chloe becomes attached to Ramsey who is another werewolves and part of the Ashton Grove pack.

So I finished reading this book in about less than a day since I got it and while I was reading it I had a bit of mixed feelings about some of the characters in the novel. I actually had to read the last page of the novel to give me an idea of who would end up with Chloe since I wasn't completely sure if Michael would be the lucky hero to end up with her in a happily ever after. I've done this a couple of times with other books I've read and it has always sort of eased my mind about the characters which were wonderfully written. While I was reading it Jessica told me the following on Facebook, "My fingers are crossed that you like you it...but I get the feeling you may want to beat me over the head with it :)" which then made me a bit nervous. I've noticed that Jessica is now writing novels that will keep us readers guessing about which man in the heroine's will be the lucky one to end up with her and it can really get nerve racking always wondering who will end up with who. In the end Jessica Coulter Smith delivers yet another exciting paranormal romance in her highly addictive Ashton Grove Werewolves series that will have you guessing from start to finish about who will Chloe choose to mate and love forever but also make you want the novel to never end. I've also got to mentioned that I got a sneak peek into the 5th and next book in the series called, Moonlight Champion, which is the story of one of the Andrews brother's cousins who is named Connor Tierney. Now I really can't wait to get my hands on a copy of it but I have to wait since it's not going to be released until 2010. I give this book 4.5 Open Books:

Well today I'm reviewing Jessica's upcoming stand alone novel, Vicus Luna, which I was lucky enough to receive an advanced reading copy from Wild Horse Press a few days ago. I love Jessica's novels and was happy that they sent me a copy to review because I've read the blurb for this novel a while back before it was given an official released date on Jessica's website. Well this novel is a paranormal romance that starts in the town of Windsor, Georgia which is a town that lives in fear of the Vicus Luna, the local werewolf pack. Each month the pack comes out and abducts a woman, someone to do their bidding, who is little more than a slave and it's on one of these nights that Cady Whitmore, the heroine, finds herself cornered by the Vicus Luna. Terrified, she faces three werewolves who wish to claim her as their own but when the alpha decides to claim her, Cady is horrified because of what she's heard of the alpha being a womanizing, chauvanistic, cruel man. When Marshall drags her off to a secluded cabin, she worries for her safety and her life since she has never had a steady boyfriend or lover since she's barely 20 years old. As Cady struggles with many challenges thrown her way, she finds herself caught in a difficult spot because while Marshall may not love her, he isn't ready to let her go. Marshall's friend and fellow pack member, Brendan, knows that Cady is special and will stop at nothing to make sure she's safe.
In the end, the best werewolf will win but which one will it be since not only are Marshall and Brendan involve to keep Cady but then Eric, Brendan's twin, comes along and that just makes this triangle into a square, LOL. So I finished reading this book in about less than a day since I got it and while I was reading it I had very mixed feelings about all the characters in the novel. I actually had to read the last page of the novel to give me an idea of who would end up with Cady since there were about at least 2 men who were after her and I wasn't completely sure who would be the lucky hero to end up with her in a happily ever after. I have read a couple of ebooks published by Wild Horse Press which include ebooks by Jessica Coulter Smith, Linda Palmer and Paige Warren. So when Wild Horse Press contacted me to inquire if I accepted review requests from publishers and asked me if I would like to review Paige Warren's short contemporary romance story I accepted. I love their website because it is so clean and easy to find everything you would like to know about their authors, books and submission guidelines and more. I might really consider submitting my manuscript to them if I ever get it finished and editing enough to fit their requirements for submission. I have read and reviewed Paige Warren's other short story called Baby and All for Wild Horse Press so I was looking forward to reading her newly released short story. Well onto the book review for Paige Warren's latest short contemporary romance story, Unexpected Wife, that I will say right off I finished off in less than 6 hours after starting it.
This novel when I first read the blurb reminded me of her novel, Baby and All, because it was about a woman on the run from a man. It begins with Ainsley McCullough, the heroine, being on the running from her past for a while and when she stumbles across an abandoned farm house, she thinks that maybe things will start to look up. Getting a job in the small Texas town, she's surprised to learn the man who owns her home is in jail since she is on the run from the police because she thinks that she killed her ex-boyfriend when he tried to kill her. Braedan O'Connor, the hero, was falsely accused of a crime and has spent the past year in jail and so he's anxious to get home and see what kind of damage has been done to his home. When Braedan enters his home and smells homemade apple pie, he's surprised to say the least because then he spots the woman responsible for the mouth watering smell and all of his senses come alive. Ainsley hadn't expected to get caught in the man's home and so when she comes face to face with the handsome stranger, she isn't sure what to expect. Knowing he was in jail frightens her, almost as much as his good looks turn her on and so now she wonders what price will she have to pay for invading his home?
Well though I found some similarities in this book from her previous short story it was unique with it's own plot that had me wanting more. I really enjoyed reading about Ainsley and Braeden who are complex characters in their own right which is something I like in a story. I don't read that many short stories because I feel that I don't get to know the characters that well in such a short space of time but I couldn't stop reading this short story because it was GREAT! It was a bit fast paced but I loved reading about Ainsley who is a woman that wants to make a life for herself even though she's scared that she may have killed her abusive ex-boyfriend. I also really loved reading about Braeden who is a strong and handsome man who is so honest and a real gentleman though he was sent to prison for a crime that he didn't commit. Paige Warren delivers yet another wonderfully romantic romance short story that will keep you reading from start to end wondering what will happen next for Ainsley and Braeden. I'm a fan of Paige's short stories and will be looking out for more in the future but I'm hoping that she will one day write a full-length romance novel for me to enjoy because these short stories are only whetting my appetite. Linda Palmer is a former Silhouette romance author now a young adult author that I recently discovered but one that I will definitely be keeping an eye out for in the future after reading her young adult novel, The Cinderella Swap, which she contacted me to review for her. Now today I'm reviewing her upcoming October release, Jaguar Moon, from one of my favorite e-publishers Wild Horse Press. I was contacted to review this novel before the release date so that readers looking for a paranormal young adult novel to read know what they are getting from with Jaguar Moon. I'm sure glad I did because I had a great time reading this novel so much that I finished it up in less then 6 hours after I got it uploaded onto my Sony eReader.
Well this novel starts with us meeting Livvie Merrick who hates the psychic gifts that make her different and cause nothing but trouble in her life though that could change if she could learn to control it better. That's especially true when she has a vision that the school's star quarterback will break his leg and naturally Livvie warns him—a warning misconstrued as a curse when it comes true. That makes for a lonely senior year for Livvie until Alex Sawyer moves to town and Livvie has to show him around school because she is part of the Welcome Team. Livvie is quickly lost in his big beautiful blue eyes and though it's clear that Alex is as attracted to her, she knows the day will come when he finds out what a freak she really is. What neither of them knows is that Alex is different, too, and the psychic gifts Livvie despises may be exactly what she needs to save him. Alex and Livvie have a lot of things that they will need to work out because they both have some secrets that they will need to tell each other sooner rather than later if they want their budding relationship to last more than a couple of weeks as is normal for teenage relationships.
As this is my second novel that I've read from Linda Palmer I can tell you that I will be keeping a look out for any of her future young adult books because she has me hooked and not about to let me go any time soon. This novel is such an exciting paranormal young adult novel with so many interesting plot twists that will have you spinning to catch up with all of the fun new things that happen to Livvie and Alex on their journey to finding true love with each other. I absolutely loved it and I can't wait to read any of Linda's future young adult novels if they are just as good as this one. Though it's written in the first person, which I don't generally like to read, I find that Linda has written it in a way that kept my interest from start to finish just like her current release, The Cinderella Swap. Linda Palmer has delivered an exciting paranormal young adult romance with many twists and turns that will keep you wanting more and fill you with excitement trying to figure out if Livvie and Alex will end up with a happily ever after though it seems almost impossible. I give this book 4.5 Open Books: 4.5 Open Books

I recently reviewed her current release second book in her series called Moonlight Hero for both Jessica and her publisher Wild Horse Press and what a nice read that was for me. Today I'm reviewing Jessica Coulter Smith's debut novel, Whispering Lake, but this is a new extended version and with a beautiful new cover that is coming out this Tuesday, August 25 with romance publisher Wild Horse Press. This novel is sort of a prequel to her wonderful paranormal romance Ashton Grove Werewolves series because it introduces the Andrews brothers for the first time before you read Moonlight Protector and find out about Cole Andrews love story.
Now onto my review which starts with Cassie, who is on vacation with some friends, suddenly finds herself drawn to a handsome stranger. This handsome stranger along with his twin and older brother are sharing the same cabin together with her since the place was booked solid and this was the only opening for Cassie and her friends trip. Hoping she will finally have a shot at a normal life, she allows herself to care for Cole who awakens something that only her friendly ghost Matt had been able to in the past few years. But when things get hot and heavy, Cassie's spectral best friend Matt materializes—literally. This is when things get really interesting because we now find out that Cole is secretly a werewolf along with his brothers Michael and Gabriel...but will Cassie be able to handle the truth when she finds out? Or will the fact that he turns furry turn her off but more importantly, will Cole be able to handle Cassie's psychic abilities because there will be ghosts popping up here and there? Cassie has a choice to make now that she has had her sexual attraction awakened with the help of Cole but since Matt has arrived she now has feelings that she needs to come to terms with or end of miserable. Will she choose the hottest werewolf of all, or the ghost of her dreams who has known her for half of her life?
I'm so happy that I finally got my hands on a copy of Whispering Lake, even though I never had the pleasure of reading the original version, because I have heard so many good things about this novel and since Cassie and Matt have featured in both of the Ashton Grove Werewolves books I wanted to know how their love story started and ended. There were a lot of twists and turns that had me wanting more and more until I find out how things will end for Cassie, Matt and even Cole. It was great getting to know Cassie better after reading only bits and pieces of her in the werewolves series and Matt as well because he is such a facsinating character who I was very curious to find out how he was made a ghost and then into a human again. This is a must have novel that you have to read even if you have already read the first two books of her amanzing paranormal Ashton Grove Werewolves series because you will be able to get an inside look at the three Andrews brother before they ended up finding their mates. Jessica Coulter Smith delivers a wonderfully written paranormal romance with ghosts, werewolves and psychics that will have you glued to either your computer screens or e-reader screens until you have devoured this novel. Yesterday I had romance author Jasmine Aherne here for an author interview. She got in touch with me through my association with the e-publisher Wild Horse Press. She contacted me in hopes of scheduling an author interview, author guest blog as well as a book review for her romance novel, Between the Lines. Remember to come back on Thursday, July 16 to find out more about how she came to write her novel, Between the Lines and now I'm going to review her novel. This novel from the start captured my interest because it takes place in my own city of NYC, which I love reading about in novels sometimes since I usually read novels that are taking place in other states or even in other countries. This novel introduces us to attorney Victoria "Tory" Langston who loves her job but realizes that she's missing something in her life and wants to finally find it though she doesn't know what it is yet. Then her cousin from England gives her an unexpected call when she's at work to tell her that she needs her help with her client bestselling thriller author Aaron Cooper. Now Aaron Cooper is a British author who loves to travel all over the world researching about different cultures and places for his best selling novels.
Then that all started to change when he sets eyes on attorney Tory who is going to help him with his research for his new novel about a female attorney. The two begin a whirlwind relationship that starts out innocently and with each day they are together they grow closer but where can it possibly go? She lives in New York and he lives in England, so what kind of relationship could they have with such a long distance problem they have now. As the two get to know one another better, they discover that their feelings run deeper than either wants to admit to each other or themselves. Will Tory and Aaron be willing to forget their pasts and give each other a chance to be happy together forever? Or will old relationships get in the way of something wonderful that could very well be their last chance for the true love and happiness that they deserve? Well those are some heavy questions that I really enjoyed finding out about while I was reading this novel. I really fell for the hero, Aaron, and the heroine, Tory, because they seem like opposites but they really have so much in common. After finishing this novel I really couldn't believe that I finished it so fast and was left in awe as well as wanting to get my hands on another of Jasmine Aherne's novels.
